damn, the way you guys make it sound the Cowboys would have been ranked about 30th every year against the pass that he was there....

2002 - 19th
2003 - 1st
2004 - 21st
2005 - 11th
2006 - 24th
2007 - 13th

If you can get 10 rec for 2 TD's against him how in the hell did they stop anyone???? Looks they every once in a while that passing defense was ok.....

His play got worse as soon as they instituted that BS horsecollar rule. Roy Williams, throughout his career (dating back to college) made himself valuable by being able to recover from his mistakes by catching people from behind.

His signature tackle was taken away, and in addition, his speed is not what it was coming out of college. The guy is a liability on the field, and he has been, even dating back to when Zimmer was here.

Maybe a change of scenery will be what he needs. Time will tell. I don't think you will be happy with this signing though. You will learn to really hate the horsecollar rule though :)

All I do know is the guy had little to no support from his teammates in Dallas, and there has to be a reason for that.

Roy Williams is a guy that would run his mouth in celebration after a win, and leave early from the lockerroom after a loss, leaving his teammates to face the cameras.

Looking for the Hator-ade emoticon, but alas I can't find it.

Pretty sure if he was signed by the Vikes or Lions, this thread would have a decidedly different feel.

Maybe a move to outside linebacker lol
Don't laugh..this would not shock me at all.

Honestly, being in Cincy this move makes no sense to me. They are focussed on stopping the run. Which is why they signed Tank. They also drafted Maualuga to be the future ILB. They have some very good talent at safety with Crocker, Ndukewe and White. My only guess is they plan to use him early on first to stuff the run, or maybe for depth at OLB for blitz packages. Other than that...Roy has no value unless he will do special teams

I think the Bengals were hoping this move would resemble Denver signing Dawkins. To make Williams effective, stack him in the box. He needs to almost be a nickel back at this point.

I think the thought of moving Roy Williams to linebacker sort of slaps the face of good linebackers in this league.

Roy Williams rarely tackles anybody. He sites himself on someone from a distance and launches to make a big hit (never tackles). Working in the front 7, which is not his game, is a completely new learning curve. It requires him to actually read a play as it develops, in the middle of a ton of traffic. I just don't see that working. Linebackers are forced to read the development of a play and make key "tackles". Roy Williams is not known for either of these abilities.

Remember, Dallas actually worked this guy in preseason for the past couple years in linebacking roles, and it just didn't work out.
