It s being reported that a two-year deal has been struck with a signing coming Monday. Sounds like a vet minimum deal with some incentives. Low risk/low cost move for the Bengals so I like it.

They have also signed Gabril Wilson S on a league minimum one year deal as well.

Pacman Jones signs 2 year deal with Bengals

(FFChamps) The Cincinnati Bengals are giving the often troubled Pacman Jones a new start in the NFL by signing him to a two-year-deal. After serving a full year suspension in 2007, a six game suspension in 2008, Jones was cut after the '08 season and did not play in 2009. Analysis: The Bengals had the 4th best Defense in 2009 and already employ two of the leagues best Cornerbacks in Johnathan Joseph and Leon Hall. It will be interesting to see where Head Coach Marvin Lewis puts Pacman in the lineup.

Like the Wilson deal....Adam Jones, eh, not so much. There are only so many times you can roll the dice and not have it come up snake eyes....

With that said, from a talent need standpoint, our nickel corner situation is putrid so if Jones can pull his head out of his ass it will add a spark to the pass defense.

What the hell is he going TO DO?

I bet Ocho gets major milage ribbing him in the lockerroom.

The Wilson signing is actually quite impactful. Their defense is getting saltier by the year.
Pac is a nickel guy (at best) and probably will be the primary returner if he sticks.

Here is a thought. What if he was not signed to be a Corner?

Cincinnati has only a few issues on Defense.

First was Safety depth. They start Crocker and Roy Williams. When Roy was hurt they had a backup..but he is great at blitzing..not at tackling. They had another younger guy..but he showed his age and lack of experience. So depth at safety is key.

The signing of Wilson could be just the ticket..but what if Pacman moves to Free Safety to back up Crocker?? He doesn't have elite speed for corner anymore..but a ball hawking free safety could be a fit.

Bengals have a kid named Trent. I think he went to Ohio University. He played very well last year as a rookie and 3rd corner. After him they have issues...so the drafting of Ghee made sense.

My point is...don't be locked into Pacman as only a corner. They may have other ideas.

Are you talking about Morgan Trent? He went to Michigan and yeah, he did much better than I expected him to last year.

I think your theory would have made more sense if they didn't Sign Wilson.

I think he is brought in to be a corner, could provide depth elsewhere, but even though Trent played decent last year, they are still weak in their nickel. Adam Jones "could" help that out a lot.

Their safety rotation might not me that bad if Wilson works out. Crocker, Ndukwe, Williams & Wilson. Not a bad 2 deep.

Another thing to consider here is I believe both Hall & Joseph are at least RFA's after this season, this could be a back-up plan if either leave.

I'm interested to see if he still has it when it comes to returns, if he does, that could be quite a weapon and a big upgrade to what we have.

Safeties should be Wilson and Ndukwe, with Crocker as the top backup. Williams probably needs to slot into a LB spot where his skillset makes more sense and his weaknesses are more easily masked.

Williams was actually pretty good in Zimmer's D last year prior to injury. Not great, but he was not burnt repeatedly in coverage. Zim knows what he has in Roy and puts him in spots where he can succeed.

I do like Ndukwe overall a little better than Crocker, but Crock is a nice solid vet.

I'm sure if he farts without permission, Goodell will suspend him. He is consistently harsh on people he don't like.

(FFChamps) Adam "Pacman" Jones is not guaranteed a roster spot with the Bengals, according to NFL.com. Analysis: Pacman had trouble staying out of trouble up to this point of his career - but there is no denying he is a very talented cornerback and dangerous return man. He should make the Bengals roster if he stays focused on football, but it is way too early to determine if he will make a positive impact in 2010.

Mike Lombardi of the National Football Post predicts that Pacman Jones will not make the Bengals' 53-man roster.

Coach Marvin Lewis confirmed Tuesday that Jones is not assured of a spot on the club, despite signing a "two-year" contract. No part of the deal is guaranteed. Pacman will have to beat out David Jones and Keiwan Ratliff.
