Illegitimate BCS process holds game hostage - College Football - Rivals.com

Let's talk about the BCS and what should be done to improve it or what should be done with it or just ditch it all together. The article posted is a little long but very informative about it. I didn't realize alot of the stated information given out. Sounded more like a joke than ever before. The part that stated western arizona, a community college, was ranked #30 just recently because of wrongly entered information and unproven data. Now how often does that happen i'm thinking. And to hear coaches admitting on not doing the voting cards in the coaches poll which is part of the BCS process. Instead it's other personel such as secretaries. And to hear they won't even give the formula process out not even to the heads of the BCS. All we know they could be liying and blowing smoke up our fart makers.

After reading the article, I'm really suprised it is allowed to keep going as it is and no changes have come around. Either dump the system for a playoff type system or fix the system and make all the data and figures available to those that really matter: The college sports fans who w/o us, there would be no college sports.

Was hearing yesterday about a 4 + 1 team playoff system at first. But nothing will happen til the current contract is out. Which is coming up very soon. 2013 i wanna say off hand.

Each conference winner should enter into a playoff. Or if you want a really big playoff, the top two teams from each conference.

Not really. The big conference teams should still handle the small conference teams. The smaller teams would actually benefit because they'd get revenue shares for the games they appear in on the big networks which they'd otherwise never get, but the big time schools would still benefit the most. It's also an incentive to put serious money into football programs for the D-1 teams.

I do not believe any team would ever attempt to join the SEC under your plan but the east and west coasts could benifit.

Im hearing right now the new BCS model is going to be a "plus 1" system with a four team playoff. The semis will be held at the campus of the teams ranked #1 and #2, with the winners meeting in the BCS National Title Game at a neutral site.

So if your team is #3 or #4 and wins, you have to toss cash to travel to the game, then turn around and pay out your ass to travel to a title game one or two weeks later??

Perhaps the semi's are held a week after the conference title games? Would give someone over a month to arrange travel to a neutral site title match.

That could turn out to be a big mess. Esp with how these conferences are adding teams that are no where near the region they play in, hence SDSU in the big east.

Didn't really think of it that way but that is true. Definitly puts OSU in the title game with LSU instead.
