Axe Elf: DraftMaster

My reality check bounced.
I didn't really count that, but I guess you could say we're competing against each other there?

It would be difficult to say on "average." There have been years where I've had a few leagues that range up to $200 in entry fees, and then years where I've had tons of leagues with smaller entry fees. Last year I only had 7 leagues for a total of $135 (including DFS games), but profited over $800. This year I have 60 leagues (including DraftMaster leagues) and have invested $945 (not counting DFS).

I guess somewhere between $300-$500 would probly be my "average" over the 22 years I have played.

That's the real deal! Ive always wanted to do that.

The draft is a lot of fun, but the league itself is fun mainly due to the excitement of the bigger money involved. No trading due to obvious collusion potential, so that takes out the most fun aspect of fantasy football for me.

I did high stakes for 3 years in the WCOFF from 2003 to 2005. Kind of lost interest in it until last year when I got the urge again. My youngest son turned 21, so it's something we can do together and hang out for a few days in Vegas.

Have done pretty well. 2 league titles in 4 years and lost the championship game last year by 3 points. Never came close to seriously challenge for the top prize, but the guy that beat us in the championship game finished 3rd overall when he got hot in the playoffs (3 weeks of total points). Had Lynch scored 1 more TD in the game the Seahawks beat up on the 49ers, the guy would have won the whole thing. Lynch had 2 TDs but probably another 5 carries inside the 2, so he had his chances and the guy probably had a near coronary watching the game. It was the last game where anyone with a chance was playing so he knew exactly what was needed from Lynch. He won 25K for 3rd, but not sure it was worth the torture of coming that close to 250K.

Anyway, drafting from the 4th spot this year, so hopefully, have some nice players fall at the turn back and make a run.

Maybe Im a fantasy football sap, but I love the fact that you're able to do something awesome with your son through this silly little game we all love so much. That has to be an awesome experience and something you guys will share forever.

I hope one day that I will have a kid cool enough to get down on a Vegas trip to draft a team in the highest level of fantasy football competition.

Thanks. That's really why I do it now. If it wasn't for hanging out with the kid for 3 days watching and betting on sports, I wouldn't go............

Ceasars Palace on opening day of the NFL is a lot of fun............

You have to get there by about 6 am to make sure you have a table with waitress service so that sucks. But worth every bit of the effort.............
That's the one thing that I hate about Caesars. Its always packed on the big days. March Madness was ridiculous, and Im just too damn lazy to go early and "get a table". If you want a decent smaller sports book that you can basically walk right in and sit in a comfortable chair, check out The Flamingo. Its kind of like theater style seating, really great chairs with arm rests, cup holders, etc etc. Sure, you're not at the great Caesar's palace, but its not all that bad. They have drink service there too.

If you want a good laugh, go check out the sports book at The Quad. It's like going back to 1978. It looks like a scene right out of "Casino" Its totally old school

I'll check it out. Maybe I'll see someone get whacked...............

I'm going to check out the Cosmopolitan too. Maybe they have some type of reservation hold since we are staying there. If you get a table at Caesars, you are away from the crowds because it is roped off and it's awesome. If you don't, then yeah, not a great place to be.
