Asomugha wants to be a Jet....

(Rotoworld) According to MLive.com's Tom Kowalski, free agent Nnamdi Asomugha wants to play for the Jets. Analysis: Kowalski is a Lions reporter, but he's presumably done digging on Asomugha because Detroit has so often been connected to this year's premier free agent. That digging apparently led Kowalski to believe Asomugha wants to play in New York. There have been several other indications this is the case, so it isn't a crazy notion. If Asomugha is willing to take a discount to play in the destination he covets, the marriage could very well happen.

As a Pats fan this news is making me cringe.

Funny, I actually like Ryan. I think he's good for the league and the Yang to Belichick's Yin in the division, but again as a NE homer I hate that all these players want to play for Ryan and the Jets now. :rant2:

I also hate the news. I wanted Asomugha to sign with the Lions a while ago. But I'm being realistic now. I know the Lions won't pay as much as he wants.

Wants to be, and the jets affording it are two different things here.

Jets have to first sign one or two wrs. But it is nice to see that many players would want to play with this superior organization with a players coach who wants to win and puts it on the field and doesnt hide behind his words.

After the Holmes signing they'd have to first restructure Sanchez's contract... likely move some of his salary to signing bonus and knock the $13M he's supposed to make this year down some to free cap space. After that they'd have to either make Braylon take a pay cut or cut him all together. The next move is to cut Cromartie altogether, I think.

well both edwards and cromartie are UFA so they just wouldnt sign them. Cromartie would be expendable if we got asomugha. I think we pick up a vet like mason, moss, owens etc. to play wideout.
