Arian Foster....is he your #1???

Foster had a HUGE season last year with 2,220 combined yds and 18 TD's!! Yet despite this, I sense that fantasy owners are not real quick to anoint him as the #1 fantasy player going into this year. Do you see Foster repeating his crazy 2010 number? Is he #1 on your board, if not, where? Anyone see him as a 1 year wonder and not willing to put him in your top 3....top 5??? even further???

Great question Miller!

I too am burdened with the saddle of doubt when it comes to Foster but I am wise enough to know that a lot of those feelings stem from the fact that I had him and threw him away....So I want him to fail.

Prejudices aside, you can't argue with numbers. He's given no reason for us to believe that he is fragile, flakey or a fussbudget.

I don't think you can NOT count him as an elite RB in 2011.

AP, CJ and Foster. I don't think you will see a single league that doesn't result in these being the top 3 picks.

This isn't an endorsement for another great year for him but there is a lot of pressure to draft "who you're supposed to".

I will echo your question to the rest of the forum..."Who Else Besides Those 3" with the top 3?

You would have to give him serious consideration. Last year in Sports Outlaw Fantasy Football League SOFFL TurfPro rode him to the Championship game and lost. In SOFFL2 tblGoBlue and the Big House Football rode Foster to a Championship win! I would consider him a safe pick, a top pick, but I would have to contemplate it for a long time.

I can see J Charles going top3 in alot of leagues this year. There is also talk of CJ sitting out while demanding a new contract. Talk like that will push him down a few notches, perhaps behind Rice and McCoy, esp in a PPR. Foster is a definite top 4 guy but I am still taking ADP and Charles over him....

Foster is easily my #1. I'm not expecting a repeat, but I do feel he can come through with 75 t0 80 % of his production easily. It helps that he plays on a high powered offense that also happens to be the leagues most balanced. I can't say that as assuredly for AP or Chris Johnson, and Charles is just too edgy for me. If I were the first pick, idefinitly try to trade down if possible and still land Foster, as the majority of fantasy owners aren't as confident in him as me.

He is the safest pick, in my estimation, of the top 4 RB's for steady, strong production. When you study the next tier, I feel Mendenhall is definitly the safest pick for steady strong production within it. During that tier you also start to consider AJ and Roddy, especially if it were ppr.

I would push the button but I would agonize over it for awhile just because of the way I am. But like you say even an 80% of last year justifies the pick. I don't worry much if my number one pick finishes in the top five as that is plenty of production for the pick. Now if your #1 pick finishes at 10-12 then you have screwed the pooch.

Seeing as Mudloggerone isn't here right now maybe somebody should rip your post for him. :)

But, damm, I can't find anything wrong.

Very nice posting, Tekie!!

Funny thing Coach....I threw Foster away as fluff in a package deal to get Gore.

The "fluff" was then thrown away by the trade recipient.

Mud drafted him in the 4th rnd in a 5 keeper league (so that makes it closer to the 9th round in a re-draft) and rode him to....well.... umm....nowhere.

...but Mud still has him and will only cost him a 4th to keep him.

Im a A.Foster as #1 RB supporter, in one non-outlaw dynasty league i grabbed Foster off the ww in 2009 and he was my #1 pick in the Tigress Lair dynasty league doesn't hurt to have Ben Tate as a handcuff as i have in both league's.

Maybe he wont match his 2010 numbers but he will get pretty darn close.

Cant go wrong with C.J. A.P. or A.F.

Here is my order

#1 A.Foster #2 A.Peterson #3 C.Johnson

Count me in as a non-believer.

Too many times these guys are flashes in the pan, due to the league not knowing them. This will be a whole new year, and he will have a huge target on his back. I do think if he stays healthy he will be decent, but I don't see him top 5, nor for that matter high top 10. I also believe that once Tate proves he is healthy....and starts getting carries, that Foster will lose some time on the field.

Way to many one year wonders at RB to go and throw the number one pick on him.

You pick Foster number one and he lives up to your expectations you are ok.

You pick Foster number one and that nagging doubt in the back of your mind becomes reality - season over.

I am not even drafting Foster third overall if he is available to me - if he does not live up to what he did last year there is very little chance of recovering from having nothing to build your team around.

Just to remind all of you that MJD informed everyone last year BEFORE Foster busted out, and before the year kicked off, that he drafted Foster on every team he owned. He told us all before the season last year that Foster was a beast!

That and a quarter, buys you a really, really bad cup of coffee.

MJD also always drafts himself, and look what that has done the past few years........

Foster's not just a one year wonder. Go back and look at how he ended 2009. Granted it was just 2 additional games but it showed what he could do leading into 2010.

I traditionally don't take risks with my first pick so #1 would be AP for me but I do think Foster ends up as a top 5 RB.

Something else to keep in mind.

The Houston Chronicle's John McClain still expects the Texans to at least make free agent FB Vonta Leach an offer once the transactions freeze is lifted. However, McClain has reported all offseason that Leach has designs on becoming the league's highest paid fullback, and that the Texans are unlikely to be his highest bidder. Unless the market for his services is surprisingly small, Leach is likely done in Houston.

It's going to be interesting to watch the tops of drafts this year, no clear separation at the top of the drafts.
