Arian Foster gets paid

According to Foster's agent Mike McCartney, Arian and the Texans agreed on a new 5 year deal this morning which will allow the Texans to tag another player. Now the $54 question becomes will Foster take the money and run (away) aka Chris Johnson or can we still count on him to be the number 1 fantasy draft choice this season. The betting money says that Foster will still produce.

big move for Houston, they didn't want to use the tag, and got a deal done. Will the now tag someone else??

Texans agreed to terms with RB Arian Foster on a five-year contract.
Financial terms aren't yet available, but the Houston Chronicle reported Saturday the $30 million guaranteed Chris Johnson landed last summer would likely be the "starting point" in long-term talks. The move frees up the franchise tag for DE/OLB Mario Williams or C Chris Myers, but the Texans reportedly "aren't inclined" to tag either player. Foster, who was a restricted free agent, would have made $7.7 million under the franchise tag. With the Texans among the more cap-strapped teams in the league, it's likely Foster's 2012 cap number will be lower than the tag would have guaranteed.

Updating previous items, the Houston Texans signed RB Arian Foster to a five-year deal worth $43.5 million and includes a hard guarantee of $20.75 million, according to a league source. Foster will make $18 million this season and $30 million in first three years of deal, the source said.

people with Porsche's don't drive them to Arby's.

I'd look for Houston to treat their investment likewise.

big k's are fantasy red flags.

I like this move, and I think not tagging Mario was also a good move. I like what the Texans are doing from an overall strategic approach. They are making the right sacrifices at the right times

Would be interesting to see a chart of RB's performance after getting a big pay day.

could be a valuable fantasy tool if there's a trend.

after a quick look, I found a stat that says RB's since 2000 that sign big contracts gain on average .3 yards per carry less the following season.

In my opinion there's a definite drop off between big paydays and performace at the RB spot reguardless of the stats.

Stats do not show the heart Alpha, a RB can play at less than 100% and have as good of numbers if conditions are right.
