Are the Ravens ever going to learn?

I'm sure were going to hear the Ravens and their fans cry about all the penalties at the end of the Cincy game just like they did with the Pats last week. Ray Lewis got a PF for this hit:

I have a feeling that is not the last he will hear about it. Not only did it help cost his team a win, it will likely cost his some cash, maybe even a game (doubt he get a suspension though). Chad had pulled up on the over-thrown ball and Ray (b/c his head to DOWN in launch mode) continues to launch his body like a missile at Chad's head causing a violent collision and the removal of Chad's helmet. Chad did pop right up which I give a ton of credit for, cause that was a violent hit! But Ray left his feet (no-co according to new rule) and led head down with his helmet (don't give me the shoulder crap, head was down and pointed forward, that is leading with your head). These are the types of hit that have no place in the NFL IMO.......and I'm glad the ref made the correct call and it played a critical part in their loss....maybe if they continue to lose games due to losing their cool, they will finally learn. And while I don't see the suspension, I'd love for the league to send a message here.

Thoughts?

I agree with you Miller. These types of hits are extremely dangerous for both players. I don't know what your local channels featured after the afternoon game, but here in Tampa a program was running that focused on the long term neurological effects of concussions suffered by NFL players and its connection to the early onset of Dementia. These types of hits are no joke.

I honestly dont think he gave a crap. I imagine Chad got in his head and he crushed him. Inexcusable loss of control, but still, I dont think Ray Ray cares.

eh, I don't know If I think that is the case. 1) Ray and COC are actually close friends from everything I have read and I don't think any amount of COC chatter is going to get into his head. 2) if there is something Ray Ray cares about it's winning and this contributed to their loss on Sunday. 3) He really going to care if it costs him a game...

I just think this is how they play, like Suggs said coming into the game, they will continue to play their game, which is violent. Unfortunately for them, there are rules which they completely ignore and until they start playing attention to them I thnk it holds what is a very good team back.

I agree about those hits. I saw some of the concussion program.

How do they figure?

Ravens | Not expecting punishment for Lewis hit Mon Oct 12, 04:54 PM
Jamison Hensley, of The Baltimore Sun, reports the Baltimore Ravens do not expect LB Ray Lewis to be punished by the league for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Cincinnati Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco Sunday, Oct. 11.

Oh and abt the penalties in the NE game, kinda weird that neither Ray or Ed were fined for making comments abt the refs in the game. Guess that says it all...

needless to say if this is true I am disappointed. A day later I'm not sure I think a suspension is needed, but wouldn't have argued with it either.....but to not do anything only promotes this crap, sorry, I just don't think we need hit like this.

I said this last year, you should see what you hit, Ray clearly did not....

I wish I could find the original thread. It is from a Ravens board back in 2005, but quite relevant to this thread. The wisdom of Benglas Rulz is timeless.

  • -- Ray Lewis Has Not Yet Heard about Potential Fine --
    Wed Oct 14, 2009 --from FFMastermind.com
  • CBS Sports reports Baltimore Ravens ILB Ray Lewis hasn't heard from the league office regarding a fine for after being flagged for unnecessary roughness when he hit Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco so hard his helmet flew off on Sunday. Lewis said he would hit Johnson as hard as he did on Sunday again if he had the chance. “I'm like a missile,” he said. “When I'm locked-in, I'm locked-in.”
