As Gates continues to rest his sore foot, it is looking like he might not play until after the team's Week 6 bye, the San Diego North County Times reports.

Recommendation: Gates didn't practice at all last week and is not expected to do much work this week either. "He was in getting treatment this morning, but I don't know exactly how much progress there is," said head coach Norv Turner. "We continue to have a plan. He plans on running tomorrow, and we'll see how it goes from there." Obviously, the coach has not officially ruled Gates out for their upcoming game at Denver, but unless Gates makes a significant recovery this week, it would not surprise anybody if he skipped Week 5.
