The 49ers have totally shut down leaks, which is a big change from the Balkke era. Now "team sources" are giving out information on who they are going to take? A bit hard to believe. Plus, no way in hell they pass on Fields for a guy with Kirk Cousins upside.

Here is the thing. My understanding I have read and seen on networks is HC thinks Mac Jones is mental enough and accurate enough to make his offense work better. Per reports they really like Garoppolo, but he can't stay healthy, and he has mental slips at times. I happen to agree with you, that Fields is also that accurate, and would add a dimension to the 49ers they have not had since Steve Young. But there seems to be some opinions on knocks on Fields on his slower reads and not "fully in" attitude.

But most feel that of all the Qbs other than Lawrence, Jones may be the most start ready in the NFL. I am not a GM or HC, so my opinion doesn't mean much. But I have done this long enough that where there is this much smoke, there is at least a small fire.
