The Patriots have signed WR David Patten, the Boston Globe reports.

At 35, it's uncertain how much Patten has left in the tank, especially considering his last production in the NFL worth mentioning (54 catches) came in 2007. Still, it's worth noting that during his previous stint with the Patriots in 2001-2004, he enjoyed a nice rapport with QB Tom Brady, displaying a knack for the occasional big play. At the very least Patten provides some wideout depth in the months ahead with Wes Welker's status for the start of the season in question.
