It's after the fact so it's not really advice. My friend (who is PC slow) entrusts me with the keypunching for his team so I am remotely involved.

My friend was offered:

Tom Brady
Tony Gonzalez
Braylon Edwards
LaDanian Tomlinson
Michael Turner

For:

Phillip Rivers
Maurice Jones-Drew

When I saw the trade offer I almost peed myself. He just lost Clark for the season, Rivers doesn't have anyone to throw to and MJD is on the Titanic.

The guy who offered is the best 0-6 team you have ever seen. He's cleaning house and building for next year in a keeper league.

I BEGGED my friend to accept this offer but "He Like's His Guys".

Other people I have talked to didn't freak like I did but said they would consider the trade.

I would have jumped on this before the guy sobered up.

What do y'all think?

here's a crazy thought.....i think your friend is right to pass on the deal.....

We are assuming the obvious here, Rivers and MJD are lock top tier keepers this offseason. Who's he getting in this deal that's on that level? Brady is a very questionable keeper. Turner isn't MJD level, even though he's a solid keeper. The others, while having value right now, aren't guys you should be aiming to keep. If this is a redraft and I can start most of them, yeah, I probably do it. But you're giving up too much keeper value for it down the line.

I pass.

I think I may be with Mav here..this is a classic Nickels for Quarters trade. Normally the guy who gets the best player in a deal has the best shot to win in the deal, in this case he not only gets the best player, he gets the 2 best! If this was a redraft, might be something to think about if he felt this could put him over the top NOW. But even there, Brady will be solid but not spectacular the rest of the way. Turner is a nice RB2, but not the RB1 many thought he'd bounce back to. The other 3 are nice, but who knows how long LT holds up and Gonzo isn't elite like he once was.

If he really wanted to go for it all, yeah, maybe this gives him the best shot, but it also hurts his team significantly in the long run as there is no one in that deal that is a great keep long term.

In this league, I'd pass as well.
