Week 1 DEEP END!
Week 2 DEEP END
Wk 3 DEEP END
Wk 4 DEEP END
Bye weeks are in full swing, and we find ourselves having to replace Welker, Brady, Moss, Hernandez, Forsett, Ward, Wallace, Mendy, Marshall, Brown, Bess, and many of us would have gladly started RW after Monday Nights game.
On top of that we need replacements for Vick, McCoy, Steve Smith, Cutler, McFadden, Portis, Shipley, and maybe Addai, all guys hurt this past weekend, not to mention guys like AJ, Breaston, Pierre, R.Bush, D Brown, Garcon, and Moreno, all we are still rostering, who went down earlier in the year.
At the same time we need to guage guys effectiveness who are returning from injuries, at unknown capacities, making this one tough passtime. Whether we're 4-0, 0-4, or somewhere in between, there is no QUIT in Fanatsy Football. We have to dig DEEP!
All of these DEEP calls are based on educated hunches, rumor, or just plain gut feelings, but they are necessary to challenge weekly. I see a very good week out there for those of us who need to dig DEEP.
Qb's-
-Young- I have a hunch about the UT Grad heading back to Dallas this weekend. Tough loss last week, a team that can be rattled, and some help from other Longhorns makes Young a risky DEEP play this week with upside. His TE and Fullback are also Longhorns. I feel Vince will account for 250 yards of offense with 50+ on the ground and 2 Td's with one via the ground.
-Fitzpatrick- I'm back on Fitzpatrick this week, and like his matchup with the Jags, who just made their season with the win last weekend vs. Indy. I see a very similar game stat wise with 250+ combined and 2 Td's. The bonus will come if one is on the ground.
-Others are already all over Bradford so I'll just throw out the mention and let you know he should not hurt you at all. (I like Hill better in this matchup though)
Rb's-
-M. Bush- It might not be very DEEP, but he was dropped on many squads or shuffled to the bench. Some don't know that McFadden is injured. Put Bush in. he will be a valid #2 Rb this week with 75+ yards on the ground, a catch or 2, and a TD.
-Bell- Due to the injury to McCoy, Bell is a must start if you need the assistance and have a priority waiver selection this week. Grab him and play him. He should combine for around 100 yards, have about 5 receptions, and score.
(now for a few DEEPER rb picks for you 4-0 teams in trouble with byes, and injuries)
-K Smith, Kuhn, Graham, and (are you ready for this?) Schmidt. I see a similar games for the first three guys 40 to 50 yards, 3 to 4 catches, and a possible score, making them DEEP fillin flex options (ppr). Schmidt is my gut guy this week, and I feel he gets more involved, with McCoy out, on 1st and 3rd downs. I have him penciled in for 5 receptions and 45 yards. That's only 9.5 points (ppr), but as good an option as a guy like Wells, based on that teams week 4 performance.
Wr's-
-Get Gettis- With both Steve Smith and Jarret out, Gettis will out perform LaFell. LaFell might get the flash, but Gettis will be the workhorse. He's in-sync with Clausen and should be good for 6 grabs for 75+ yards and a TD. Both warrant consideration, but I feel Gettis is the one to grab , especially in ppr formats. Chicago might be a bit testy but I still feel their secondary can be had, especially in Carolina. I'll say LaFell catches 3 for 60.
- Armstrong- The cagey vet McNabb will catch the Packers in a blitz with a double on Moss, leaving this little West Texas A&M receiver free deep atleast once. I'll go out on a limb and say 2 for 105 and a score. He will draw one deep pass interference call if he doesn't get the score. The kid has incredible hands, and the Pack just lost a safety.
-Stokely- *ppr alert* He made Hass feel real comfortable, and took almost all of Branch's looks. I see 6 receptions and 60+ yards, with the possibilty of a 5-10 yard Td strike. (oldman alert....Stokely is on bye) lol!
Te's-
-Scaife- Part of the UT connection mentioned above. Gage is dinged, and Britt still inconsistent. Britt might get another cheap endzone look, but Scaife will be the safety valve for Young. I see a 7 catch minimum. :eek
-Scheffler- Still getting plenty of targets, and this week will be his over Pettigrew. They're both nice Deep starts, especially in ppr formats. You could do worse then starting either of them. Detroit wants this win BAD!
*If Shipley can't play, queue up Gresham
Goodluck everyone.......It only gets tougher next week!
