Who wants more games??

If it aint broke don't fix it. Guys are already getting pounded, more games will just shorten the the years a pro can play. Injuries are already occurring more frequent than in the past (or maybe it just seems that way). They are already pushing the limit of change by by trying more Thursdays and what not.

The addition of two more games being played during the season can eliminate what is now known as 'Wild-Card Weekend'.

Adding two games to the schedule allows every fan to watch their team play two more times even if they don't make the playoffs.

Two eight-team Divisions qualifying the top two teams in each.

As it is, 16 teams play 17 games a year. Half of the league is already playing 17 games per year.
Depending on the outcome of the post-season, teams can play up to 20 games in a year.

By eliminating one playoff game and adding two regular-season games, in reality the season is only extended by one game.

And only to two teams.

If the players and fans don't want more games
They're going to get expansion.

Expansion is a good idea, but not yet.
Let's try this extra game for four or five years.

And then expand the league by eight teams over four years.

My biggest problem is where does it end. There are great ideas out there but do we have to let them all happen. I'm still not ready for the more Thursday night games next year on NFL network. Miss the days when they just came out out ESPN every now and then. As much as i love football, just worried how much people wanna change it. Like the great Chris Rock once said "“There’s a reason to kick an old man down a flight of stairs, just don’t do it.”

Injury is the obvious issue.

The NFL developed into a culture of helmet to helmet contact.

The helmet was never intended to be a weapon or part of the game.
The helmet was an early version of the air bag.

The idea that protective equipment be used to inflict injury is an age-old paradox.

Goodell or any other dictator worth his salt will tell you that.

love this video nothing to do with games but is about football...

Right on deuce - and does the salary just get pro-rated or is there some kind of exponent?
Does extending the season increase the injury factor? if so, then by how much?

An increase to 18 games for 2012 is impossible based on your question, deuce, imho.

I get the players concerns. And the fans concerns.

However, I just can't get in bed with the thought the NFL season could last too long.

bumping here
with some flower power to the NFL -
Hey man, why not just use your helmet as protection and not as a weapon?

Feel me?

In football, the player is the ultimate weapon.
Don't be known for your sissy equipment.

Ain't one bullet ever protected a man from another.
Unless that bullet was meant for him.

This is why you don't get cable.

: They said my trees are in the way, and i am not cutting them down
them's some trees block your whole southern sky. drag.
I've got the Sunday Ticket. We killed five trees that was together near on five-hunerd year ol', to get that dish to work.
Killed seven tree babies and a couple million of their seeds.
NFL Sunday Ticket grows here, dig?

So trees hate me, but I wouldn't trust a dolphin in no swimin' hole.

ticket or no... i do feel like injuries are more and more common the more fine tuned athletes get... however the league clearly wants those games

I don't have an issue with more games per say. But you have to increase rosters, to account for injuries. I just don't see the owners agreeing to that, so players won't agree to more games.

Eliminate 2 preason games and go to 18 games....finw with me. 2 less games for the owners to rip off loyal season ticket holders by forcing them to pay full price for bs preseason games.
