You can base this on the talent of the #2 guy or the likelihood of the #1 guy going down.

If you've got C.J., Rice or A.P., you may be comfortable running them without a shadow. If you've got Gore, S.Jax or Turner you might be a little nervous going in with them as your unescorted #1.

Will you carry the handcuff for another team's RB, certain that his guy will fall?

A fill in RB can completely change the success of your team if you happen to have the handcuff or are first on the waiver wire.

Which handcuff do you consider the most likely to have fantasy impact?

Man you're fast!

I like Dixon too based on a probability of Gore going down and the talent that will be replacing him.

I also like Ringer but CJ is one of those guys that avoids the big hit and less likely to go down.

If Rice goes down McGahee would have a big year. He's the best back up on that list and he's running behind a top O-Line.

Sure you can. Miller is a dork. Javon Ringer is the most critical handcuff for the simple fact that he can step in and produce at a high level right away should CJ2K go down. Willis is a close second but other than those two the same can't be said about the rest on that list.

:hmmm:
So a back up that is SURE to get yards and carries regardless of injuries to the starter isn't worth more? :wtf:

I don't think so :nono:

Barring injuries, I think Willis McGahee will end up having the best season out of the guys on the list but I voted for Dixon because of Gore's injury proness (word?)

Great Question though :ribbon:

Ringer and Willis fall squarely into that category. Who else are you referring to Mr. :nono:

Uh...no.

Ringer won't sniff many carries, unless CJ gets dinged. Willis on the other hand may get goal line and short yardage.

However, Mr. Stewart in Car will get carries and yards and be almost equal to Williams in Car.

But, in the spirit of throwing dirt on a grave.....I would also watch out for Chester Taylor in Chitown. If Forte is Forte of last year, Chester will take over.

Yup on JStew. I think Ringer gets a pretty decent amount of carries. Just a hunch now but I get the suspicion the Titans are going to want to conserve their money maker IF (big if) Ringer can produce when called upon.

You know, I wonder if the opposit isn't true. This is me just thinking out loud here. But what if they just feed CJ all year again. His contract is up, so if he blows a tire so to speak, it means they get him cheaper. Plus have Ringer in the fold to take over. Seems cold hearted yes. But lets face it, it is clear anymore that top flight Rbs have about 3-5 years of mileage on them...then they drop off quickly. Another big year for CJ, and the wheels may very well come off.

Maybe it's just because I'm married to the guy, but I'm surprised Kareem Huggins didn't make this list. Caddy's tires are likely to blow just as fast if not faster than Gore's. And Huggins spent his rookie year with the Bucs on the practice squad getting acclimated to the team the NFL environment. Dixon, for example, is fresh bait.

I agree that J. Stew is the most critical handcuff to own, but Huggins shouldn't be completely overlooked IMO. Greg' Olsen's offense is still driving with a run-first playbook.

Sorry RZR. I took the top 7 RBs and listed their back-ups as "handcuffs".

Stewart isn't really a handcuff, he's a co-star. Huggins is very talented and the future for TB but if you were a Caddy owner and you lost him for the season, it really wouldn't destroy your fantasy team if you didn't have his back-up.

I used a stricter definition of a handcuff to keep the list shorter.
