Whitlock's Top 10 Qb's

I was glad to see that they included Johnny Unitas on their list. Any top ten all time without him is a waste of time.
 
Steve Young and Joe Montana are must-haves in this list. They both broke Super Bowl records for No. of passing TD's in their day. Montana = 5 and Young = 6!

Plus, he sat behind Montana for 4 of his prime QB years. His stats would have been off the chart. Tough guy too. Never got enough credit for the way he handled the transition. He got a lot of flack because he didn't win the rings like Montana, but in fairness, the SF D was not nearly as good when Young was the QB.

That said however, he was no Joe...............:noshit:
 
I just don't get Elway as the top QB......

my top 5 would be:
Montana
Unitas
Favre
Manning (yep...already)
Elway/Young.....could go back and forth forever on those two IMO
In case your wondering....Marino comes in right after those 6.

I have a hard time putting Elway in the top 10 and it sure isn't because I'm an Elway hater. Guy was severely overrated.........
 
Staubach/Fran - out

Bradshaw/Bart - in

Other than that, it's hard to argue with much on that list.

Next 5 in no particular order would be: Staubach, Fran, Moon, Aikman, Otto/Baugh
 
It's hard to construct ANY "All-Time" list. There are so many persuading factors that blur the actual talent of the individual.

For instance, just how much weight should team success and super bowl wins have in determining the skill level of a QB? I don't see Bart Starr as that great a QB but how do you deny him the list when he had great success?...and if team success DOES influence talent rating then why not Daryl Lamonica, Len Dawson and Don Meredith?

I think there were some great QBs that will never make the list because they played for cruddy teams and I think some on the list only made it because the team made them look better than they really were.
