Which rookie WR's do you like this year?

For situation alone, I like Maclin. Of the top WR prospects, I think he finds himself in the best situation to succeed. Some of these other cats are going to have a lot of pressure on them. I think Maclin will be able to just find his place so much easier.

That being said, he is still a DeSean Jackson clone, but that's just fine by me.

Crabtree and Maclin have to stay on top of this list.

Behind them I think Hey-Bey, Britt and Nicks (in no particular order at this point) are set up nicely to begin producing immediately.

After that there is a slightly longer list of players that can begin making an impact their 1st season

Turner - Even if you are a believer in Ginn the remaining WR's are not to intimidating

Murphy - Hey-Bey starts across from Walker but what other WR on the team has Al Davis' personal stamp of approval

D Williams - Michael and Roy are gone so the 3rd Williams sister takes the field. Cal will do the heavy lifting but Williams should be able to open the field up for them

Harvin - Berrien and Rice may remain the starters but they will give Harvin his touches and probably try to get imaginative on how they do that

Iglesias - Start alongside Hester? Cutler needs to bond with someone so why not the player coming in with you?

Thomas - With a history of underachieving WR's Thomas should be able to force them to put him on the field across from Holt (??? oops there) at some point this year

While I like Maclin, I think DeSean Jackson benefits the most and has better production than Jeremy.

Besides the obvious (Nicks, Heyward-Bey, Crab...) I have to say the two that I think will be very productive are Ramses Barden and Jauquin Iglesias. Iglesias fell way too far but it looks like it will work out nicely in Chicago. Cutler should be pleased. And Barden, while he may take a year to develop into the talent I think he is, him and Nicks lining up is going to be AWESOME!

I think Maclin is at the top, but I am less certain of Crabtree translating his game to the NFL as readily, I think he may need a couple of years in the league before he finds his footing.
Poor Bey is probably the best WR in the draft, but we will never see it since he is in the black hole that is the Raiders....

Maclin in Philly is nice...but when has a Philly receiver really been anything to line up about other than Owens. Jackson was a solid #2 for you last year...but I don't think both will be that good. Only time will tell.

Crabtree in San Fran is awesome! But until they get a real Qb....meh.

I like Nick in NY Giants land....if he can take over for Burress.

Britt in Tenn. has a real shot to be huge....with only Holt to contest with.

I also like Robiskie and Massaquoi in cleveland...especially since they still have Edwards to draw coverage.

Bey and Harvin will end up being wasted picks in my opinion.

I like Nicks, and feel crabtree is gonna stub his toe in the contract dept. He has already comeout to remind everyone that he should be paid as the #1 Wr this year even though he wasn't taken first. That arguement always goes over real well.

If DeSean doesn't perform a tailspin it is Curtis I see taking the hit in production

I disagree. I hate stereotypical comparisons, but Curtis just became Wes Welker. Maclin is ridiculously skilled, but also raw as far as route-running, especially in a system like Philly's. We all know rookie WR's are normally a crapshoot, and aside from the occasional offensive highlight, I think in 2009 Maclin's biggest contribution will come in the return game and as an outside decoy. If Curtis can avoid the weekly "questionable" tag, he's a 10-TD lock. McNabb trusts him.

I'm not as big on Barden as some. He's already bigger than the TE the Giants picked right after him (Beckum), and I view him as James Hardy, circa 2008, except from a smaller school. He had a chance to shine against real competition during Senior Bowl week and kinda spit the bit.

Chicago got a potential #1 target for Cutler when Iglesias fell in their lap, then followed that later with the selection of a guy I've followed on a weekly basis here in west Texas, Johnny Knox from right up the road at Abilene Christian. I'll give you a former Bear, Bernard Berrian, as a close pro comparison for Knox.

I'll throw out a 7th round sleeper also, as a consolation for Khris/Ryan. Sammie Stroughter to TB was an awesome flier. He's much more polished than Dexter Jackson (App.St.), who the Bucs took last year in the 2nd round.

I agree on Curtis, and interject Bennett's name into the Chicago mix this year. He and Cutler share familiarity during both of their best years in Vandy.

Excellent point, RC. You could do a heluva lot worse than Iglesias and Hester working the hashmarks, Bennett in the slot, and Greg Olson cleaning out the underneath areas.
Cutler will make that whole corps alot better. Forte's in for a ridiculous year rushing, as well.

The WCO and Missouri's spread share a lot of route concepts, I think you'll find Maclin adjusting pretty quickly.

You're right, DD, it's just that if you watched Mizzou games, most of Maclin's damage came on either 5-yard slants (with elite RAC skills) or go-routes. A guy with a good core skillset who is very coachable like him will absorb a playbook in no time. I just don't expect a R.O.Y. type year from him in 2009.

My bad w/ the Holt in Jax comment. Would like to claim I was thinking about 2 different things at the time but that is probably giving me to much credit.
