Whats up with Tony Scheffler?

Sgt John

Sith Lord of T&A
Some of the Outlaws sung his praises, yet hes all but disappeared. Has the player fallen off or is this simply a product of the "Patriots" offense?

Orton has never used the TE much and couple that with the offense and the writing was on the wall for this slide.

doh.....sorry, I meant Orton.....he did not us the TE's in Chicago to the extent that he could.

I really thought htis young coach would throw the TE in the gameplan more. The Pats often changed it up and gameplanned their TE's for a half or so just to keep the wideouts open.

I agree, nothing throws LBs and Safefties out of synch like some nice strikes to the TE. I think Shef could be a great weapon if utilized more. But blocking TEs are probably being used more to try and stimulate the running game. They are more likely to throw to CBuck than Shef. I would be interested to see some stats that say just how many offensive plays Shef actually spends on the field.

I remember those games where they gameplan Watson. I think they did that wk1 in NE this year. Scheff has had one game, but it seems they should be using him to keep Marshall, Royal, and the running game free.

Precisely, If you throw a couple of strikes to Schef LBs and Safeties will be turning there heads to see where Schef is going instead of tracking Moreno and CBuck in the backfield. Royal will also open up in the short Welker-like patterns of a year ago.

I honestly expected more. At times during the pre-season they were lining up Scheffler as a wide out...and it was successful. He is a solid reciever. Orton just doesn't look for him that much.

Maybe the fix it....maybe not. Just a shame.

I can't believe Orton is not throwing him the ball. Orton has a noodle arm and can't throw downfield. So why not dump it to the TE some. Like already stated, that would draw the LBs and safeties away from the runnign game.

I agree, It's just a shame. He could be a very important cog in this O. To Bad the trading deadline is past. The Texans could have really used him with Daniels out.
