Westbrook to visit Skins

rotoworld,

The Redskins are scheduled to host free agent Brian Westbrook on Wednesday.

Donovan McNabb has been "pushing" the Skins to sign Westbrook, reports ESPN's Chris Mortensen. The fit is better than it would be in St. Louis, if only because the Redskins play on grass. Washington, however, is already overloaded with over-the-hill backs. Mike Shanahan's backfield continues to shape up as an unpredictable running back-by-committee situation.

If McNabb gets his way and the Skins sign Westbrook you couldn't give me any of their RB's. What a mess in Washington.

I don't understand why they would even consider signing Westbrook when they already have Johnson, Portis, and Parker.

Maybe they just want to put all running backs in the back field and split out either side. Who needs wide receivers when you have 4 running backs that are old?

The Washington Post does not believe the Redskins are serious about a potential Brian Westbrook signing.

The meeting between Westbrook and GM Bruce Allen seems to be one of convenience, with the two already scheduled to speak to high school students on Wednesday. The Redskins were reportedly encouraged by the minicamp work of Larry Johnson, Clinton Portis, and Willie Parker. The 'Skins are unlikely to bring together three of the top six fantasy backs from 2006 after all.
