49ers agreed to terms with RB Brian Westbrook, formerly of the Eagles.

They wont pull Gore unless he needs a breather or he is injured. Westbrook isnt anything but a pure insurance purchase while Dixon learns to be a man.
 
This could limit Gore's ppr upside. I think you will see Westbrook used as a 3rd down specialist. Keep an eye on this during the preseason to see what sets they use Westy in.

Glad he went here and not the Lambs. At least he lands on a decent team.
 
Sarge obviously owns Gore too Tekie. This has to effect Gore's numbers for as long as Westie is healthy enough to play. Throw in the game that Dixon had and the 49ers might well become a RBBC. Not what Gore owners drafted him as.


FTR, I own Gore in a league as well.
 
Your taking it like Westy is 26 years old again Mud. He is a busted down 30 year old that has lost a step. If this hinders anything, its the development of Anthony Dixon. Gore is the 49ers, and I see his play largely unaffected.

Drunk posting, while not illegal is still not advisable..................

If you have watched Gore over the last 5 years, you would know he is a top 3-4 talent. RBCC ain't gonna happen.

Westbrook is there to gap between Gore and Dixons picking up the NFL games. I think you will see a lot of Gore and Westbrook in the game together with Westy in the slot.

Should be fun. Get your :xpopcorn: ready...........

Lets not get excited about Gore right now. Granted he is a fantasy RB stud.
1,100 and ten TDs what is not to like, we want him on our team. But, O my God, maybe there will be a Running Back By Committee on the Niners. I say so what, this is a good thing. Gore is a stud and will get his just like Steven Jackson both get there's even though the passing game sucks.

First let's look at the Niners rushing attack, it sucks, it's #25 in the entire league! Yes that is #25, 1,100 for Gore and 500 for the rest. A grand total of 1,600 yards, #25 in the league.

Now let's consider the Niners with a top 5 rushing attack!?!? That's another 600 yards added to the equation. Take that 500 for the rest last year and add some of that to the mix. There is plenty of room for a studly #2 there. Consider that if the Niners are rushing the ball very effectively with out Gore maybe Gore is able to rush better when he is in..... add maybe a 1/2 yard per carry.

This doesn't even take into account RBs catching the ball for yardage. This is strictly rushing yardage. Your studly #2 will probably add to the passing game as well as that is where they usually do well by nature. So there, studly #2 RB on the Niners..... Gore virtually unaffected.

We often tend to view stuff like this like there is only a finite number of carries to go around. Some times it true but in this case you should be thinking bigger Pie!!
