Wells (turf toe) has been placed on the injured reserve-designated to return list by the Cardinals, the team's official site reports. Wells will remain on the list for at least six weeks, unable to practice during that time frame, plus he can't return to the Cards' active roster for at least eight weeks. As a result, Wells won't be back on the team's active roster before Nov. 25. With Wells sidelined, Ryan Williams is now in line to be the Cards' primary running back, with LaRod Stephens-Howling (and to a lesser degree William Powell and Alfonso Smith) in line for added work as well.
