Patriots WR Wes Welker left Sunday’s regular-season finale against the Texans with an apparent left knee injury and was carted to the locker room. He will not return to the game.
Welker tried to cut to his right during a first-quarter pass play, but his left knee gave out, and he crumpled to the turf.
If Welker is lost for the playoffs, it would be a huge blow for the Patriots since he entered the game with a career-high 122 receptions for 1,336 yards and four touchdowns.

Now that is why coaches like to rest starters.....that is a HUGE blow to the Pats!

C'mon Mud....Tell me again why "resting your starters in meaningless games" is stupid.

....how the object is to win EVERY game EVERY time, no matter what the cost.

New England just lost one of their top producers and for what???

Initial tests show Welker tore his ACL and MCL. He will undergo more test tomorrow to confirm.

He'll be back next year. Welker is as tough as they come.

This makes Julian Edelman extremely important now. Hes the closest thing they got on the roster to Welker.

It should bring Faulk more into play as well. He's an excellant receiver who could pick up a few more of those third down throws.
