The San Diego Union-Tribune reports Chargers Pro Bowl WR Vincent Jackson pleaded guilty Friday to knowingly driving with a suspended license stemming from his traffic stop a few hours before his team’s home playoff loss against the New York Jets on Jan. 17. He entered his plea as part of a deal with prosecutors in which Jackson will receive a fine of less than $1,000 and around 80 hours of community service, according to his attorney Cole Casey. Jackson originally faced two misdemeanor counts related to his driving with a suspended license, plus an infraction of driving with expired registration. Jackson pleaded to one misdemeanor. Casey said the other charges have been dismissed as part of the deal. “Vince just wants to get ready to play football this season, and he doesn’t want to have a lot of this legal stuff hanging over his head,” Casey said. The NFL is still reviewing his case, according to a league spokesman. Because of Jackson’s two DUIs since 2006, Jackson is likely to face a suspension this fall under the league’s substance abuse policy. His license had been suspended as a result of his arrest on suspicion of drunken driving in January 2009. Jackson had been on probation for a previous DUI conviction from 2006 and pleaded guilty on his 2009 DUI case this past February. For this most recent DUI, Jackson received four days of roadside trash pickup, five years of probation, 15 days of community service and a $2,408 fine.

damn, sucks for him.

Yeah, those traffic violations are a serious no-no.

If Ben got 4 games for raping a chick then Jackson should face a 6 to 8 game suspension.

How DARE he drive with a suspended license....low life.

more Floyd I would think. Allows defenses to stack up to take Gates away without someone to take pressure off. Just not good news for the Chargers offense overall.

Gates becomes the #1 receiver which is always a good thing.
:headscratch: Guess I don't think he ever was not the #1 receiver.....sure Jackson came on strong the last 2 years, but last year Gates had more receptions, virtually the same # of yards and more targets. Jackson's presence helps Gates IMO. Last year with Jackson being seen as a big time threat Gates enjoyed his biggest year since 2005 and had the most yards of his career.

So yeah, Gates is still the #1 receiver, nothing different there. he just loses the only other big time receiving threat in the offense for some time. That is why I don't see this as necessarily a good thing for Gates.

Less competition for touches is always a good thing.
not always, he had more competition last year and had the most yards of his career. Less defensive attention is always a good thing....more defensive attention is not a good thing.

Don't think it will have a large impact either way, but they seemed to have a good thing going with the two of them. Take one away and I don't think it's good.

lol, not that much gold, he's still not a keeper ;)

You underestimate my sales skills my friend...........

As long as you don't send out a league email forbidding Shula members to trade for Floyd.................:biglaugh:
