SD - Vincent Jackson prepared to sit out until Week 11 - Tue Jun 15, 10:18 AM
San Diego Chargers WR Vincent Jackson did not sign his restricted free-agent tender Monday, June 14, and may not report until after the 10th week of the season to ensure he earns an accrued season, according to Kevin Acee, of the San Diego Union-Tribune. Jackson has made financial preparations in advance of a lengthy holdout, sources said.

So, we think SD will pay or what?

Malcom Floyd had better learn to catch the ball this offseason. He and Naanne are going to the prom.

What's Vincent's problem with getting paid?

He's no different from anybody else... one perfectly placed serious injury away from being useless. This type of behavior from pro athletes is absurd.

just my $0.02

i think he has NOTHING to lose. HE is by all chances facing at least a 4 game suspension. Add to that he is a RFA and as you state an injury away. So he holds out, till he gets his money, or has to come back. Then he gets suspended. No value all year.

Watch for it....

What did he do that he's going to get suspended? I forget.
dunno:

I forget too. He either pled guilty or no contest...which is about the same thing. Everyone is waiting for teh NFL hammer, but he has to be signed to a contract before they can do anything.

Ryan and myself discussed this on FFO last week. We came to the conclusion that he could face a MASSIVE pay cut if he doesn't sign his tender offer that's worth more than $3 million. We think that he should take the tender as tomorrow is not promised for the NFL as a whole. They're facing a hold out year in 2011, which could spell 2 years of little to no pay for Vincent. Take the money, perform, and see what the NFL does next year and look for a contract then.

rotoworld,
NFL Network's Jason La Canfora speculates that the Seahawks could be interested if the Chargers put unsigned restricted free agent Vincent Jackson on the trade block.

A trade could be a way for both the Chargers and Jackson to get something while avoiding a situation that is unfavorable on both sides. The Seahawks wanted Brandon Marshall before the draft, and shouldn't be satisfied with their receiver situation even after selecting Golden Tate in the second round. While this is a mere suggestion on La Canfora's part -- not a report -- it makes sense that Seattle would have interest in the scenario broached.
