How about he just goes to camp and trys to learn how to read a freaking defense....then he can move on to thinking about starting....

Might be a good idea except for one thing. He is smart enough to know that if he doesn't start at the beginning of the season, he is screwed, because there is no doubt in my mind that the fanbase will be screaming for him to start shortly into the season once they realize the teams defense is no longer going to keep them in games.

He has already had a year not working with the first team, and likely the entire training camp and preseason again this year not working with the first team. Then when Collins lays a big turd on a weekly basis on the field, we will all expect Young to just step in and be comfortable in the lineup that is already frustrated due to looking horrible on the field and losing games.

Can't do that to a quarterback. Either start him, or move him.

how about he EARN the freaking job.....Mike, he can't read defenses....why should Fisher play him until he can prove that he can do it....you say he's smart enough to realize he has to start right away....funny, he doesn't seem to be smart enough to know how to read a D.....

If he ever gets in a game(s) and doesn't do well and the booo's start and the media tear's him a new one, he will have another mental melt down.
He better think twice about playing any time soon if not a little better mentally.

Let's back up a minute guys and talk abotu the most immediate comment the guy made "I'm going to shut up." How many of us actually believed this? The guy is digging his own hole. By melting down he lost a % of his fan base; by saying he's going to shut up then coming out saying he may need a "change of scenery," he lost a % of his fan base. With that loss of fan base comes a loss of overall confidence in the guy, from virtualy everyone.

It's easier to be successful when people believe in you. He obviously screwed that up. Now the guy is in a situation where less people believe in him. In order for him to turn his career around, he's going to have to believe in himself, dispite people not having confidence in him.

I don't believe he's strong enough to overcome that, however for his sake, I really hope he is.

1st although I am not a Collins fan there is no way he takes a dump on the field on a weekly basis. He is seasoned enough to have developed patience and not be pushing passes (ala Favre) and take what D's give him. He will not see fantasy elite status but he will manage the O.

2nd I don't follow your sentiment for back ups. That is what they are expected to do - starter goes down or fails to produce they come in and play hero. Just because you have a highly paid backup does not mean your expectations change or should move the player because he wants to start.

I hate agreeing with Miller, but I'm with him on this one. I want a million dollars. Can I have it? Yes, if I earn it or steal it or whatever. The point is no one will just hand it to me. Just like no one will just hand Vince a starting role just because he says he wants it. He has to earn it. Even demanding a trade won't help him. If he's traded, he'll be given the opportunity to earn a starting gig. He has that now and it's against an aging Collins. What more could Vince possibly want?

They were talking on ESPN the other day about how throughout Collins career he has had a horrible season following a good season. I believe Collins is going to have a bad season. His stats weren't all that good last year but no one really said anything because they were winning. They were winning because of their defense and their runningbacks. I don't think their defense will win them as many games as they did last year so I look for Collins to struggle.
