Vikings pick up Cassel

Maybe this from the Vikings perspective is to keep Ponder on his toes and playing well and form Cassel's perspective that he has a good shot at taking over should Ponder plunder. Don't know why the Jets or Bills weren't interested. Still scratching my head over the Fitzpatrick drop. Think that move was a bit hasty at this point in the off-season.

Yeah, I wouldn't poo-poo Cassel just yet. He was great on a great team and bad on a bad team. He still deserves a sporting chance.

I agree, if I had a young Qb, coming off a major injury, although it wasn't major, why not get a vet. who has started for multiple teams to be protection?

I am surprised Fitzgerald hasn't been signed yet. He isn't #1 material, but he is a great back up.

I'm surprised Seattle is holding on to Flynn.

N.O. lost their back-up so they should be in the market for a Fitz or Flynn.

And this way when ponder inexplicably cant play Joe Webb can keep his happy ass on the bench

Well, why would NO give anything for him as a back up? Brees is durable and they can get a back up much cheaper elsewhere. Doesn't make sense to pay for him in terms of draft picks and Seattle wants something in return.

Agreed. The only chance that Flynn joins the Saints is if he's cut. He won't be cut by Seattle this year. While he's pricey for a back up QB their starter is cheap for a starter at that position. Together they average out in cost quite well.

I like the Cassel pickup also as he has a lot of actual NFL playing time and that is a big plus anytime you are forced to use your backup.

Jennings is a nice weapon to add to the arsenal.

The Vikings were amazing at the end of the year last year and I would like to see that continue, it's in my Viking blood
