Vikings Favred: Niners Should McNabb? Who Else Should McNabb?

when I heard the news about McNabb's new price tag I quickly started a thread about the Niners trading for him.

My first instinct was that they were the best fit and should grab McNabb. Then I had to go out or run errands. While listening to our afternoon local sports jocks they basically came to the conclusion that McNabb was about the 10th best QB in the league. Assuming this is true there should be more teams that should be interested in pulling the trigger on McNabb and trading for him at this price.

So what other teams do you think should be NcNabbing?

If i was an NFL owner, i would not be targeting McNabb i would be going after Kevin Kolb for two reasons, when McNabb was injured he filled in nicely, is a lot younger and will give a team many more years of service than the aging McNabb and could get K.Kolb on the cheap.

IMO K.Kolb should be a starter in the NFL not sitting on the sidelines

I don't see the eagles dealing Kolb. They are very, very high on him.

That being said, if I were trading for a QB, Kolb would be my target per what Derringer said.

However...lets talk McNabb. He still has tread, and in the right situation...he could be a solid starter to put a team over. That and the fact he has a "defacto" trade denial as he could say he won't negotiate and be an UFA next year......here is my opinion on the chances.

#1 - Minnesota
if Favre is not back, this is a no brainer. McNabb knows the offense since his old OC is HC in Minny. He would have a solid line to work with, good recievers, excellent running game...and a defense that can hold the score down. I would see McNabb taking this deal.

#2 Carolina - They are not as bad as they look. They are rebuilding and have a solid young O-line. He would have a great running game to carry him, and Steve Smith to pass to.

#3 San Francisco - They have Alex Smith pencilled in. Will it work. I don't know. They have a legit shot at playoffs and more this year with a very solid defense, solid offensive tools in Gore, V.Davis and Crabtree. With Arizona and Seattle and St. Louis down..they are the favorite in the West.

As for the rest:
Buffalo, St. Louis, Cleveland, Seattle they would all be one year shots to carry team while young Qb is drafted and groomed. IF they can afford to trade away a pick for a one year lease...then fine.

As for Oakland. They are no where near playoff status, and you have an owner who still thinks the young Qb they got walks on water. I just don't see it.

I could see a move to acquire McNabb if your team is in a position to win now. If not, Kolb is what I would consider a better long-term option. Last year Favre to Minny was a match made in heaven. Carolina and SF may be that type of scenario as Phic pointed out but I wouldn't put it at the same level as Minny.

To Denver for Kyle Orton and a 2nd round pick. Denver's in a winnable division, Orton can provide a reliable backup to Kolb and Philly gets a nice selection.

The Denver D has been a work in progress the past few years and the offense is not so set if Marshall leaves a void - don't see a 2nd round player covering that gap.

(KFFL) Len Pasquarelli, of ESPN.com, reports the Oakland Raiders are willing to part with CB Nnamdi Asomugha in a possible deal for Philadelphia Eagles QB Donovan McNabb, but the Eagles have been reluctant.

(RotoWire) McNabb says he wants to remain with the Eagles, but Minnesota would top his wish list if he's traded, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Analysis: If Brett Favre were not coming back, Minnesota would be a good fit for McNabb since he'd have a chance to win and with his former offensive coordinator, Brad Childress, as head coach. However, all indications point to Favre returning so a trade seems unlikely. The Eagles are exploring trades for McNabb and are reportedly seeking a top 42 overall draft pick in return.
