This isn't unexpected at all.
Ever since practice started this summer, we've been waiting hear where he will line up--QB, RB, WR, or returning kicks. He is a player without a position. I am glad to see Childress taking advantage of Harvin's talents. My Viking friend (yes, I limit myself to only one) has been following this very intently and hangs on Zulgad's and Chip Scoggins' every breath.
Rookie Percy Harvin talked with the media after the second practice today. Harvin admitted his head is spinning a little bit from all the information being thrown at him, but he said he’s feeling more comfortable with his different roles in the offense and likes the Wildcat formation.
Here is some of his interview:
(How are you handling workload?) “I’m doing great. With the help of my teammates I’m still learning. But at the time it’s going real good. I’m getting into a little better shape.”
(Head spinning some?) “Yeah it is. They just want me to learn multiple positions. We don’t know quite where I’m going to play right now. I’m just learning kind of a little bit of everything. I’m just working hard and whatever they need me to play, that’s what I’ll do.”
(Still feel like you know what’s going on most of time?) “Before we come out here we do a lot of meetings. A lot of the veterans, if I don’t know, I’ll ask them on the sideline real quick and they’re real good about getting me in the right spots. I don’t know everything.”
(How much Wildcat did you run in college) “I did that a lot. That is a lot of my versatility. They put that in now and we’re kind of working that with me and a couple of the other running backs.”
(Reaction to veterans) “I look at it more as privilege. I’m privileged to be out here with all these guys. I love the receiver’s group. They have embraced me. I’m fitting in pretty good and I’m loving it right now.”
