Vernon Davis traded to.........

bwahahahahaha what a bad trade for Denver. Wonder what they gave up....or are you speculating again?

A 6th and 7th...and then a future 6th.

I agree. Awful trade. Vernon is done, and even if he's not, he has to learn a whole new offense mid season
Actually Vernon and a 2017 7th for two 6th round picks from Denver. Still a bad deal, as Vernon is not the old Vernon anymore

Don't you think the "system" has a lot to due with success and failure?

Denver is air tight and nearly anyone can succeed there.

Price was cheap enough and he has the tools.

Price was cheap yes, but Manning is a Wr guy or at least has been the last few years. Thomas was only successful in Denver due to Redzone touches and even toward the end he was not the main target.

I actually think this was a good deal for Denver. Low risk high reward IMO. If he's done they are only out of a 6th round pick and moving back a round with the other one. If he only struggled because of the San Fran offense which I think is the case Manning just added another solid weapon. Manning was only a wr guy once Julius went down and couldn't get healthy again. I think Julius and Vernon are identical. The other tes Denver has aren't real threats do it forced Manning to throw to the wrs. I like this deal.

I don't see how everyone can consider this a bad trade. I think its a great trade. Davis' assets are speed and ability to catch. Don't know if he has lost his ability to catch because the 9'ers don't throw him the ball but I am sure he still has the speed.

All it takes if for him to run down that seam a couple of times outrunning the LB and safety and it will make the defense back off the line more and more. That will open up the running lanes.

Doesn't matter if he goes all ham and catches 2 tds per game. Just the threat of him taking the top off the D makes the trade worthwhile.

The threat that Davis can pose will prevent defenses from boxing the outside WRs or putting 8 or 9 in the box to stop the run. That alone makes the trade worthwhile.

And as far as learning a new system. The routes are the same they are just called something different. All he has to do is learn the terminology and once Manning has had a chance to get their timing in sync he should be good to go!

The question is how much better is Vernon than Owen Daniels. If the gap is sizable, then it's a good trade.

Also, how long is Vernon under contract for and for how much
