According to CBSSports.com sources, Butch Davis has been fired as head coach of North Carolina, players have been told.

Butch Davis was fired yesterday as the Head Football coach of the University of North Carolina.
UNC has been the subject of NCAA investigation for multiple serious infractions, and UNC terminated Davis for bringing discredit to the program.
Many believe UNC would have competed for a spot in the National Championship game before a wave of suspensions rocked the program last fall. Davis leaves with a 28-23 record and 3 consecutive bowl appearances.
With the team a week away from the start of fall camp no clue as to who takes the reigns for the year.
