Draft Projection - First Round

NFL Impact
Tyson Jackson has a huge frame and outstanding power. His long arms and huge hands are useful in keeping offensive lineman off of him. He holds his ground well and has a good bull rush, though he's not an outstanding pass rusher. Has the ability to move inside if needed for specific packages. He does not seem to have a consistent motor and needs to work on shedding blockers faster. He will provide for some flexibility in how he is used and is a versatile lineman prospect.

So where do you think Jackson will land? How successful will he be in the NFL?

Jackson is now getting major rumors of cracking the top 5 and being the first defensive player taken in the draft!! What a rise up the boards in the last day!

Oddly enough, he was the only player in this entire draft that I would've considered for Pittsburgh in the 1st round over an O-Lineman. He is far and away the top 3-4 DE in this class, and it's seriously not close. Top-3 caliber? Not so sure about that.

There were some mocks early on that had him going late first, early second. He can thank the copycat league for making him an extra 15 million or so. 3 years ago there were only a very small handful of 3-4 fronts, now it's the latest en vogue defensive trend.

If someone takes him over Curry, I will personally board the private Sports Outlaw jet, fly to their warroom, and keep it strong for several minutes.....

Who in their right mind thinks this guy is top 5 material.

You guys are all right. Wes, he's without a doubt the best DE in this draft, and because of that I see him easily as a top 12 to 10 pick. The reason he's the best DE, is because Everrette Brown and Orakpo are going to be playing OLB most likely.

With that said, why is Brown's stock falling so much. Todd McShay's mock I saw had him falling to the Bucs. Which, btw, I would absolutely love to see, but I just don't see him falling that far.

From Walter Football:
Does not get much explosion off the snap ... Sometimes gets too high ... Did not play his best in big games ... Does not show much range ... Questionable instincts ... Needs to have more of a motor ... Does not present a high upside.

Oh yeah! Top 10 material right here

There's not alot of difference between the top DE/OLB hybrid guys. Earlier on, Brown was right behind Orakpo and slightly ahead of Maybin. I think the pecking order now on those guys is Orakpo, Maybin, Brown.

For some reason, all of the sudden Robert Ayers is making some ridiculous rise up the mocks. He's a bit too big for OLB, probably ok for an end on a 4-3. He's also a massive character risk, which would make sense why he's widely projected to go to Buffalo at #11.

I'd say the rise of Ty Jackson and Ayers into the top-12 range makes Brown at #19 a very realistic possibility.

Orakpo is far superior to them all athletically. He also is a high character guy.

After Rack, I think its a crap shoot for the next 4 guys off the board listed as DE's.

I would take Brown over Ayers, Maybin and Jackson personally.

Ayers and Maybin will benefit mostly as DE in a 4-3. Orakpo and Brown can move between either, IMO. And Jackson is a strict DE that is better than Maybin and Ayers.

OMG if Brown falls, I will be so happy.

Does he? I can't tell you either way bro, and there is the "risk". He "could" have a high ceiling and your getting the proverbial diamond in the rough. He could suck and be yet another dude on the long list of busts.
