-- Goodell Can't Promise Bills Will Stay in Buffalo --
Tue May 17, 2011 --from FFMastermind.com
The Buffalo News reports Roger Goodell spoke to Bills fans on a conference call on Monday, but he couldn’t promise the franchise would stay in Buffalo. The NFL commissioner was asked about the future of the franchise in the small market Western New York town. “We certainly hope the Buffalo Bills continue to be in Western New York,” said Goodell, who added the continued fan support is a must. “As a Western New York guy, I know how important it is to that region and how passionate our fans are there. “The effort we’ve been going through with the Buffalo Bills and the business leaders in the surrounding areas is to regionalize the team and to draw from a broader area, including Southern Ontario and the Toronto area. I believe that’ll be good for the Bills to be successful in Buffalo.”

-- Goodell Pledges Funds for Vikings Stadium --
Tue May 17, 2011 --from FFMastermind.com
AP reports NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said after meeting Tuesday with Gov. Mark Dayton and supporters of a new Minnesota Vikings stadium that the league will contribute financially to its construction, and that he believes efforts to get the facility built are ensuring the team's future in the state. "I think the commitment here is to get something done and I think that will ensure the success of the Vikings," said Goodell, after he was asked if he could envision a scenario where the team would leave Minnesota.

What does "regionalize" the team mean? Does that mean play some games in Canada and some games in the US?

Seems to me ownership in Minnesota, and Stadium conflicts woyld leave that team on shakier ground with the NFL. I saw the two posts above as a blessing and committment from the NFL to the Vikings and a ultimatum to the Bills????? Someone straighten me out here??

I realize they have a semi-plan for their stadium now, but it took for ever and it is still under siege.

Hell, they would fill up the snow banks without a stadium in Buffalo to watch the Bills!

I think the problem with losing Minnesota is that it is the team for Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Iowa from at least Cedar Falls on up (combined with the Bears from Cedar Falls over)... you lose Minnesota and then you have no teams up there between Green Bay and Seattle.

In a way yes. They currently play I believe two home games a year now in Toronto. They are trying to pull more fans from the WHOLE area, rather than just Buffalo. I won't be shocked to see Buffalo as the first canadian NFL team.

I knew the Bills were a small market team but I figured they were about as rabid as a fan can get and have solid ownership.

Owner is sound, but bad coaching and bad drafts left them with little talent. In their hey day, with the 4 superbowl losses and Jim Kelly at the helm the attendance is no issue.

But western NY is struggling, they have lost tons of industry, and fan base in NY suddenly turning to the Jets and Giants. Too much competition in one state if you ask me.

Draw 5,000 more per game than the Vikes do.

I'm from NW Iowa and attended UNI. Iowa is pulled 4 directions between the Vikes, bears, Pack and Chiefs.
