Trade Deadline Approaching: Any Speculation?

I know that regular season trades are rare. But we do get some nowadays. Heard anything? Anything you would like to see? Does TO gotta Go? Brady Quinn benched right into another town?

Nublar7, a respected poster on several Fins boards, is of the opinion that the Fins are looking to trade for a receiver. The name Bowe has been floating around.

Sweed is on the block for the Steelers. It wouldn't surprise me if they moved Fast Willie if a team was able to offer value but Sweed for sure is done.

Sgt John, the king of posters, thinks the Fins need to pick up a WR. Someone to make a trio with Bess and Ginn.

Bowe would be a nice pick up.

Merriman won't be traded, he is a FA next year. Unless he has less than 6 years service and the season is uncapped. He might end up RFA then.

I have heard rumors that T.Owens may be dealt. The team isn't going to win, and the extra picks would help. One rumor has Chicago interested.

The Bowe rumor is not surprising, after the issues coach and Bowe had this pre-season. Again, not a bad move for a team needing more picks to improve.

Quinn....who would want him? No, not being sarcastic....of the teams THIS year needing Qbs...Tampa - drafted a Qb already, Carolina....maybe, Washington....this could have legs..., Seattle?? Hasselbeck ain't getting younger...and not sure Wallace is the answer, St. Louis....hmmmm...

AFC...Tennessee? - could be a fit as they don't pass much, and want a person who can dump off and not make huge mistakes.....if V.Y. is not the answer. Jacksonville?, Buffalo?, Henne looks to have solidified Miami...

If the price is right (thinking fire sale here) I could see him having value as a back up. Granted he doesn't match up with each system but I could see him as a possible upgrade in:

Buf (Fitz really the answer behind Edwards?)
NE (doubtful but not sold on the current back ups yet either)
NYJ (A rookie beat out challengers which automatically makes the depth at least questionable)
Bal (I like Smith but not sure he is a long-term solution even as the back up)
Cin (O'Sullivan any better? Maybe throwing the long ball)
Hou (Schaub has been prone to get injured)
Jac (Sure people are on Garrard's bandwagon again but that could go south quickly... again)
Den (Sims got hurt so a back up to Orton may be in order)
Chi (Is Hanie back up material??? I don't know but with this being a position of weakness in the recent past it may be worth considering)
Det (No dis on Cully but could Schwartz work some magic on a younger player? If he thinks he can I'll drink the kool-aid this year)
Min (Iron man still has some suspect depth behind him)
Atl (Ryan is the man but behind him there is room for upgrading)
Car (Delhomme is likely to be nearing the end of his run - Brady Quinn could at least back him up for now)
NO (No one is touching Brees but the depth is not awe inspiring so some tinkering should not be out of the question)
SL (Bulger goes down and who is their current back up? Boller? Boller has the arm but is it needed here?)

Ten - Nothing against Collins but Quinn can play Titan ball
Was - With the team struggling and the offseason trade rumors about Campbell I could see something happening but it would surprise me
Oak - Probably would not do any worse than Russell but don't see him as someone the Raiders would go after since they like the idea of the long ball to much.

-Quinn is a total bust, until he puts down the weights and gets an arm back.
-Tavarius Jackson will be ready to take over the Vikings when Favre's stint there is done. (or more ready)
-Young would be a great trade for the Dolphin's White. Wildcat heaven!
- Minnesota should make Houston pay for Sage back!

Sorry, I don't see anyone trading for Quinn to be a back up. Price will be way too high, for what cleveland drafted him for. My guess is he will only go to a team that is looking at him as a potential starter.

That said:
Buf - Edwards really a starter?
Oak - Finally giving up?
Was - Campbell is a FA after this season
Ten - Collins is not the answer...neither is Young
St. L - Bulger is just too fragile
Car - Delholme is showing wear, and Moore hasn't showed much
Jac - Garrard has resurged...but is he really the future?

I led my post off with the disclaimer of the trade being a fire sale type of deal. Your opinion that his is currently overpriced I would imagine is shared by many in the NFL. If Cleveland really wants to offload him it will not be at the price he was signed for. That said:

Buf - Edwards at this point is still a better option but Brady could potentially be a 1b backup if the Bills don't begin pulling it together quickly

Oak - Read something about Russell not able to check down and with a poor work ethic - not a winning combination. But is that opinion shared by Al?

Was - I like the back up in Washington but not sure what the teams opinion is on either one at this point

Ten - Collins is short term but capable. Vince may deserve another chance but I think he will have to go elsewhere to have a chance to succeed

St. L - Bulger is just too fragile is something everyone can probably agree on. But Boller v Quinn??? Have not seen enough of Boller to know if he has improved since leaving Baltimore

Car - Delholme is showing wear and tear and I agree Moore hasn't showed us enough to provide much confidence

Jac - Garrard has resurged...but is he really the future? No but is Quinn???

Extra picks have become a valueable draft tool. Have an extra pick, even say a third rounder has become gold. Grab a nice second rounder and see another real talent who has dropped and package two to move up at the rigy time. New England has made an art form of trading down and getting move picks yet even then they package picks to go up and grab a certain player here and there.

I dont think the Quinn move will go down just because of price. No one is going to pay top dollar for a turd.

Wilson needs to take Jauron behind the barn and finish him off. 7-9 in consecutive years tells me your team had 10-6 potential and 4-12 leadership. It just aint workin'

That said, If the old man pulls the trigger, moving Owens would make sense. You are likely going to get a coordinator with no HC experience in that travel mecca up there, and you dont want TO around your new HC.

I would also like to see TO talk trash about the Vikings secondary and watch the fireworks.

Trade bait? What about the glut of backs in Tampa Bay? New England could use a solid 3rd WR and OL help. What about moving Maroney to a team who needs a solid #1 back for something? (Maroney to Cleveland for Stuckey LOL)
