Having trouble deciding on two trades that may make or break my team.

This is the last year of a 5 year/ 3 man keeper/ 12 team ppr, 6 all TD's.
QB/2RB/2WR/TE/K/D. $300 + 5 each transaction. Roster limits- 4 RB/5 WR.

I'm 4-4, two games out of the the playoffs, and 5th in my division. Need to pretty much run the table from here out.

My current roster-
QB- E. Manning, Schaub, Stafford
RB- Peterson, Foster, Rice, B. Jackson
WR- Cal Johnson, Austin, Floyd, M. X. Williams, Amendola
TE- Z. Miller, Gresham

I've been offered A. Rodgers and J. Gaffney for Austin and either Eli or Schaub. (He has Fitzpatrick, and serious WR issues.) If this trade goes down, another guy is offering Fitzgerald and R. Bush for Rice and Williams. The catch- the guy getting Rice will immediately trade him to one of the two teams I'm fighting for second with, who both need RB's.

The trade makes for a hell of a starting line-up, but hurts my depth and makes one of my chief competitors alot stronger.

Sorry for lengthy post, but looking for some good insight on this one. Thanks!

I would actually move Schaub and keep Manning. Schaub has been a bust this year for his ADP. So moving Rodgers for Schaub is a great deal to me, but thats not the issue with this deal that kills it.

Hmm, Gaffney for Miles Austin. This is what makes it tough, because Gaffney could get you 10-100-1 as easily as he could get your 2-15.

Austin has gone over 115 yards four times this year.
Gaffney has gone over 87 yards just once.

I think you just need to be smart about who you lineup each week and hope for the best. I dont think you would be improving your squad with either deal, and I say no.

Wow, I wrote a long post saying no, but you only play 2 WRs & 2 RBs???
Time to screw the depth!! I now take both deals. Losing Rice makes no diff to your team at all since he's your bench fodder.

Your starters change from Eli/Schuab + Miles to Rodgers + Fitzgerald? Sign me up!! I dont see a huge drop in scoring from Miles to Fitz in a PPR. Fitz has had 6 or more grabs in 3 out of the last 4 games, and it will be interesting to see how Kitna does going forward, Jags are one of the worst secondaries in the league!! It will get tougher, and cowboys looked like they packed it in.

The only draw back here is, overall, I hate both trades as stand alone trades! I think you should be able to get more for what your giving up. For example, in the 1st trade, screw Gaffney, you dont need him at all with your lineup, he would be your backup to your backup at WR! Ask for somebody else.

In the Rice deal, screw Reggie Bush! You have Foster & AP, 2 out of the top 3 backs! Does that guy have a WR "better" then Fitz? If so, ask for that WR instead of Fitz + Bush? I know your worried about depth, but going from AP or Foster to Reggie Bush is already the end of your season, thats an epic downgrade. Both are also done their byes, so no need to worry about that.

Swing for the fences :P

Interesting to see some names of quite a few from that "other" FF site from the late 90's. Wondered where the old-timers went!

As far as the trade goes, the numbers say I shouldn't do it. Rodgers is only averaging 0.5 more PPG than Eli. Austin average's over 3 points more than Fitz. The thing that's got me still looking at it is the fact that both Eli and Austin have had huge games that have twisted the numbers a bit. My whole team has been like that all year, which has got me on the outside looking in. Rodgers and Fitz are steady producers, which I feel may compliment the guys like Megatron and Foster better that the other two. As far as others available on the 2nd trade, he only has Steve Johnson and Hines Ward.

I definately don't do one trade without the other. I know that if I don't do these trades, I've still got a team that will be favored every week from here on out, but that's been the case all year, and my 4-4 record leads me to believe that somethings got to give. Appreciate the solid advise. I'll be stopping by here more often!- Kevin

here's an interesting spin on this......

you have ace starters this year in EVERY position! There's really no trade out there that upgrades you too much.....so, this is a very easy call......

It's not as important in this spot to find a few more points in your starters as it is to do one simple thing.....

KEEP Rice off another team at all costs! With the team you have, you simply go to war with what you have, and take a top RB out of play for the teams you are chasing....if you lose, them's the breaks, but really this is a team that needs zero help. Good luck!

Appreciate the input. Turned down the trades. Still may try to move Jackson for an upgrade before next weeks trade deadline.
