trade advice

So im having a pretty decent year this season, but i've been doing so with really only 1 RB. I'm in a 12 man, 7 player dynasty league more than a keeper league, and obviously pickings are slim come draft day.

So going into the season i had Brees, Forte, Deangelo, Knowshown, Colston, Welker, and Harvin. Got the Lions D, Olsen at TE and servicable reserves. I knew all along i needed help at RB, obviously i assumed Knowshon wouldn't have been this useless(fingers crossed for a turn-around now), and figured Deange could have been useful on bye weeks for my 1 and 2. so for this week i grabbed Pierre Thomas who should have a great week, but he's really only a part-time fill-in. so i have been shopping for trades.

i managed to grab Heyward-Bey whos gaining interest from other teams, and is the main source for a trade. im trying to get Shonn Greene, but in the meantime i have been offered J.Stew for DHB and a 1st(which i dont want to do), and Beenie Wells for DHB and a 1st(which has got me a bit interested).

any advice?

i know wells is injury prone and currently injured, and i could talk him down to a 2nd maybe even a 3rd, but is he better than basicially no one, as my other 2 backs r fairly useless??

I wouldn't give up a first round pick for jstew or wells. You already know the frustrations of owning a Carolina back. Wells has been replaced but his replacement is on ir. I figure he loses his job next year. Your 1st round pick next season is where you pick up an equally skilled player. I would stay.

I see this kind of trade mentality on a regular basis and I really question it.

You picked up Bey on the cheap (I assume), he's had some good games and is attracting attention around the league. That's great!

But...there is still risk involved with him as far as being a solid starter every week.

You (not harping on "you"...view this as more general) dangle him out there with the idea that that you can get a solid RB for him.

If you really think Bey's value is that of a proven RB then YOU should take the risk that comes with Bey and be offering one of your WR's that are proven and YOU start Bey instead.

You mentioned wanting Greene. You can't get Greene with Bey...You can't get Greene with Colston or Harvin either. The only WR you have that will land you starting RB is Welker and with Welker you can do better than Greene.

What can you get for Bey? A RB that some guy grabbed of waivers that has had a few good weeks. Helu maybe, Delone Carter. Steve Slaton.

If you're serious about filling the hole at RB then try Welker for AP, McFadden or McCoy and pray that Heyward-Bey is worth as much to you as you think he is worth to someone else.

what i've officially been offered is Wells for DHB and a 2nd.

i still think this is a better deal then moving Welker, because for this year, i have Forte as my number 1, but need a decent number 2, not a stud. with brees at QB, Welker, Colston and harvin, im really not missing any other pieces, and can put up a strong fight. im putting up almost over 110 pts per week, which is above average, and thats without a number 2 back.

the thing that maybe i didnt explain is that our drafts arent really that useful, because our pool is so big with 12 teams, and our keepers r at 7 per year. so if you make playoffs, your probably not getting like an AJ green, or a Mark Ingram. for example, first overall this year was Mario Manningham, followed by Ingram 2nd, Plaxico 3rd and ryan grant 4th...nothing worth drafting in my eyes.

Wells has a touchdown in every game this season except for 2 weeks back when he left the game...he would fill a good spot in my lineup, but of course he always gets hurt.

Wells is hurt.

Harvin is junk.

My best offer would be DHB or Welker for AP or Shady McCoy. Period. No additional rounds.

Have you not been paying attention? Oakland just offered that and was proven ludicrous with Carson Palmer. Noone is worth that much. Not even McFadden.

"Dogbone" Ogbayanna off waivers for Harvin would make a lot more sense.

12 team 7 player keeper. there r no FAs, lol. Harvin is solid, don't let the mess of Donovan McNabb say otherwise, he should have stopped eating Chunky Soup a long time ago....Ponder will help him out the rest of the way.

i've since started talking with the owner of AP, but he doesnt have interest in Welker, he's got Calvin, Wayne, Marshall and A.J., he doesnt have any reason to trade.

not sure what the Oakland comments r supposed to mean....

Just that Oakland just overbid. Noone else was going to bid that high, let alone bid. That's why Palmer was on the sidelines drinking beer at college games. Didn't you notice htat? Then you didn't knotice my misspelling.
