Tony Gonzalez : Thoughts for 2009?

Tony Gonzalez, traditionally a top performing TE with The Kansas City Chiefs. Always a safe bet as a top TE he just started his first practice with the Atlanta Falcons today. After being traded, he is in a new environment but it looks like it could be a favorable one. While most probably consider Gonzo a guy who will get his share of the action maybe some of you have a different take. Up? Down? The same old Gonzo? Bigger Target on your Board? Smaller Target on your board?

For redraft, he might be my top TE prospect. The numbers he put up on that dysfunctional Chiefs team still makes me shake my head. Given Tampa's and New Orleans linebacker situations, Tony will run roughshod through the NFCS.

This is a good move by Atlanta i think. He will make a big difference in the short passing game, running plays and in the red zone. They should be a better team offensively this year. It now depends if Ryan is for real or was a one year bust.

I see him as a top 3 TE, not sure exactly where I will have him in the top 3, but he'll be in there. New team is positive for him, but he had a fantastic year last year so i'm not sure I would expect an increase in numbers.

I like Gonzo in Atlanta more than I do in KC. With a new coach and offense, no telling what you would get in KC. Atlanta though....that is different. They will still run, alot...but now between Gonzo and White they can really spread the ball around and pass more. Heck, I see this as a plus for White...since he may be able to get deep more often!!:woohoo1:

My guess is #3 TE behind Witten and a healthy Gates.
