  • The Boston Globe reports New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (knee) was not in attendance at today's organized team activity session as expected. Unexpectedly, Brady sat down and talked to the Patriots in-house web show, "Patriots Today," telling the show that he's feeling great in one of two sound-bites the show aired today on Patriots.com. "I'm feeling great and just excited to be out there on the field, training with my teammates," Brady said. "It's always fun being back in this competitive environment and working with these guys to try to make 2009 our best season. It's been fun to be back. I think everyone is excited to get back on the field and see what we're capable of." Brady was then asked if he was itching to get back out on the field. "I think everybody is at this point," he said. "It was a tough year for us being 11-5 and not having the opportunity to advance into the playoffs and make a run there. I think it's been a long off-season for everybody. I can sense the excitement with the team and we've got some great veteran leadership and a lot of youth and energy with our rookies that hopefully we can build into something special." Brady, who has been throwing since January, did not participate in any of the three days of the OTA, which ended yesterday. Patriots HC Bill Belichick said last month and repeated at his pre-draft press conference that Brady was working "in the off-season program without any limitations." Brady is expected to be present and participate at the team's next OTA, which runs from next Tuesday, May 26 through Friday, May 29. Media is allowed to attend the session on Thursday, May 28.

Brady does thrive in the spotlight. But you can never doubt his ability and performance level. It was only an injury that took him out of the loop for a year. He is one of the best QBs going and it sounds like he is itching to prove it again.

I'm going to go out on a limb and disagree with you coach. In an article about him missing the OTA commented that he was attending some social function with the Mrs. Can't remember if it was during the OTA or simply the same day now.

He is savvy enough to say the right things but I personally will be waiting to see/evaluate him on the field before I'll be convinced he will be picking up where he left off.

I will not be in the market to draft Brady, Manning, or Brees. I just can't justify the expense when I try complete a draft plan. My main reason for bringing this post here was to highlight the fact that Brady is back and Moss has fallen a full round in ADP. Brady is back and the underappreciated Welker is even more under appreciated.

I had not noticed a recent ADP drop of Moss and Welker. Interesting if Brady is back, healthy and committed.

Brady and Giselle were at some Republican Party fundraiser the evening before the aforementioned OTA, if I heard correctly on the radio.

-- Randy Moss: The Sky is the Limit --
Tue May 26, 2009 --from FFMastermind.com
ESPN reports the New England Patriots don't intend to pick up where they left off the last time they had QB Tom Brady for a full season. Their top two receivers envision an offense even more potent than the one that left jaws agape in 2007. "The sky's the limit for this offense," Patriots WR Randy Moss said over the phone Monday afternoon. "I think that we could be a little bit better than two years ago. I'm very excited for us as an offense. I'm excited for us as a team. There's a lot of good things about QB Tom Brady coming back that excites the people, the fans, the coaches and the players around here. All we can hope is to come out with smoking guns."

I remember Indy saying how peachy Manning's recovery was going as well. They've let Cassell go, what else would they say? He could missing a leg and they'd say the same thing.

Tom Brady's performance is going to be very interesting to watch. Not long ago, we were speculating about his injury being career ending. When the Patriots decided to let Cassel go, it seems that most assumed this as meaning that Brady is going to be just fine.

It is very important to not forget about the complications that Brady went through during the rehab process. There has to still be much concern over how this knee is going to hold up during actual football practice, particularly when training camp rolls around.

I keep thinking of the former Texans running back (name escapes me) who was expected to be ok, and as soon as camp hit, the knee failed miserably, and the career came to an end.

I know it is a different position, but the knee is very important to throwing the ball accurately, and any lack of mobility is going to cause problems.

Don't forget, no news with the Patriots is not necessarily good news. Brady is currently participating in OTA's, wearing the knee brace, and admitting that the injury is going to be on his mind during the season. If there are any problems with the knee, one thing you can be sure of is that the Patriots organization is likely going to keep it completely unknown for as long as possible

there is also a difference of being back, and BEING BACK!!! A lot of the difference IMO is the mental aspects and not physical. In 2006 Carson Palmer came back for game 1 after his knee injury in January of the same year....but was he really BACK?? Physically he was OK, but you could visably see in his mechanics that he was VERY concerned over the knee and just was not comfortable. That will be the test for Brady IMO, and one you may not know the answer to until after the first game or two has been played. Can he stand in the pocket and not think about the knee and the defenders around him? Can he just concentrate on the play at hand? He'll need to in order to REALLY BE BACK....guess we'll find out.

Welker is a great aid in this matter, and he should always be able to find him quick.

Patriots | Brady throwing on run Tue Jun 2, 06:40 PM
Mike Reiss, of the Boston Globe, reports New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (knee) threw on the run during practice Tuesday, June 2, and showed good zip and accuracy on the pass.
Our view: Brady appears to be making solid progress from his knee surgery. The Patriots were running a red zone drill with the ball set on the 18-yard line. Brady was working out of the shotgun but didn't have an option when he went through his progressions so he decided to run up the middle. When the defense reacted he stopped and threw it to Randy Moss. Brady has stated that he'll be a little apprehensive, but plays like that show that his instinct is taking over.
