Titans QB Vince Young has taken over the reins of the team and has prospered in the role and lead them back from the brink of total disaster to near playoff contention. Last week he threw for over 300 yards and lead a last minute drive to victory that included 4th down completions and all. Pretty remarkable, but now he faces the Colts and that is a mighty Milestone that he may not pull off.

For the purposes of this poll assume he throws up a semi -stinker and the Colts win. Has he earned the street cred to continue or do you start nipping at his heels?

V Young has made a remarkable come back IMO. I picked him up off of the waiver wire a couple of weeks ago in my keeper league. If he closes out the year in a simular manner to how he has been playing I will retain him for next year in my $$ league. Right now I think he's a steal for a 16th round draft choice.

Sure he can survive a less than stellar game against the Colts, many QB's have faced the same outcome. However I'm not expecting him to stink the place up. Young has grown mentally by leaps and bounds or so it seems to me.

I have to admit I have become a big fan. In keeper /dynasty leagues like yours Mudd where you give up a corresponding pick to where you grabbed him in the draft if you keep him that could be a great value

To me it is impossible not to have become a fan of his. From where he was to his current status is a thing that movies are made of, hit movies at that.

I voted "Keep Him As A Starter" but.............

V.Young is playing good right now, how will he handle it when he starts to make mistakes, throw some INT's, what would happen if the Titans lost C.Johnson for an extended period of time???

I think its way to early to bet the farm on him after only a handful of games

The contract is the issue here. I believe Young is coming up soon on his rookie contract end. As a franchise, they will only have the rest of this season, I believe, to decide this.

However, that is not totally true.

Keep in mind that whenever Young has played...for the most part the team was successful. Why? Cause the team is not built to win or lose soley on the Qb performance. It was built to be a running and defensive minded team. Yes, I think you can keep young, extend his contract (on the cheap) and still target a young Qb in this or next draft to eventually replace him. He has proven they can win with him, so use him and prepare for the future...which all teams should do.

I agree and disagree with you, Phicinfan.

This team is not built soley around the success of the "typical" quarterback, but it is/was being built around Vince Young and his skillsets. It is also built around (as all teams are) the need for leadership on the field. Vince Young is, and has always been, a leader on the field. Players simply play harder when he is out there. All he did was win when he was on the field at ever level, including his previous stint as and NFL starter, all the way to his last game before being benched, at which point the team was winning a very tough fought game.

When he was benched, the team continued to rally and was helped by the play of Chris Johnson on offense, which for some odd reason, seemed to surprise most. That and a devastating defense. Those two things together were deadly until late in the season, at which point teams were figuring out the Titans and they needed to rely on play from the QB position, which they were unable to get.

This carried over into this season, where the mold to stop the Titans under Collins was not only figured out, it was mastered.

Last week, Vince Young won that game for the Titans at the end twice. The first time, the rookie receiver coughed up the ball. The second time, 99 yards and 18 plays later, VY put the ball back in the hands of that rookie receiver for the win. Put Collins in that game, there is no way he puts together that final drive, and no way he puts that faith into the rookie who just fumbled the ball away.

many continue to rate his play based on traditional QB stats, something I never understood when rating any quarterback. It goes so much further than that.

I won't disagree with you on this. I agree that to be able to have a Qb like young, who can run or throw...and knows how to use all his assets (look at what the TEs do when he is in, as well as Wrs) that make the defense weaker against them.

I also agree all the kid has done is win. He won in High School, won in College...and won in the Pros.

I don't know if I would go hog wild on the leadership aspect. Leaders don't pout like he did in the one game, or make the big mistakes off field he did.

But I would have no issue with starting him from now on. But...I still would not sign him to a big time pro Qb contract. Give him mid range money....and draft for the future.

On this, I agree on his immaturity, but you can put part of that blame on the coach. This kid went from no plans to start in his rookie year, to being thrown in the starting lineup and seeing instant success.

he faced his first adversity as a pro, and took offense to being booed in a game where he and his entire team was busting their asses in a bloodbath of a game. tons of players went down to injury in that fist fight.

as for the off the field, you will have to clue me in here. We got what Wyatt or whatever his name from the Tennessean tried to push in the rumor mill, but we never seen anything concrete on this from anybody, including coach Fisher. Even upon his return, the negativity was still coming from certain media people. It was coming before he was benched, and will continue. For some reason, it seems that some want the guy to fail.

Just look at the actions of the players on the field, these guys are looking to VW for leadership. On both sides of the ball, they are playing much harder with him on the field.

Maybe Young is doing so well this time around because he's not wearing the franchise label anymore.

It's become the Chris Johnson show in Tennessee and Vince seems to like the "Supporting Actor" role.

From what Vince Young himself has said, his mother didn't know he carried a pistol for self-protection and when she saw it she was a bit freaked out. Being from Kansas I'll never understand that reaction, but on the other hand she's his mother and she found out after he had what was probably the worst day of his life.

I totally agree here. I have never been a proponent of starting a rookie Qb. I also agree what he had was immaturity, and it truly looks like he has matured and IS leading.

I don't see a reason to not roll with him for now. If he can keep his head on straight he has proven to know how to win.
