NFL Impact: Tim Tebow will go down as one of the greatest players in CFB history. This, of course, means little at the NFL level. Tebow is a gifted athlete, a natural leader, great runner, and has solid arm strenth. This is a very raw athlete who will take a lot of coaching to suceed at the next level. He has extreme difficulty working under center, has horrible footwork, a long release, bad mechanics, and comes from a program and coach who dont exactly turn out great QBs.
The projections are all over the place. Most rumors have Jacksonville taking him in the 1st round to save the franchise via ticket sales. Some have him dropping as far as the 4th round due to a bad senior bowl.
Im my opinion, what you have here is either Drew Brees or Alex Smith. Both had knocks on them coming from spread offenses. Brees turned out to be a potential hall of famer. Alex Smith hasnt done a whole lot. A team in need of immediate QB help should not draft Tebow. He needs to go to a competent coach in a stable environment behind a good QB and spend a great deal of time learning the ropes. The potential is there... now the question is who pulls the trigger?
