Thursday Night Football

I guess I'll paint myself into a corner but I like the heck out of TNF as long as it isn't "my" team.

Now 0830 football on Sunday is a bit of a stretch. :(

I actually like the Sunday morning game. Take the biggest pile of garbage game that I would totally overlook and play it in the AM. I'll lazily catch a little of it while having some breakfast and getting my day going. Might even learn a thing or 2 about the teams playing that I would barely have noticed if it was being played alongside the rest of the games.

Oh I LIKE having a game come on early on Sunday. What I don't like is watching 2 teams suffering from severe Jet lag playing on a soccer field in front of 80,000 apathetic fans.

Hahaha. Yeah....that's true. I don't really mind though.

Honestly, I wish the NFL would take a look at shuffling up the way they schedule and start the games on Sunday. Instead of having 9 games at noon and 3 games at 3, Id like to see something different.

1 game at 9, 3 games at 11, 4 games at 1, 4 games at 3. Spread it out a bit and give the fans watching at home more of a chance to absorb and watch more coverage. You sell more ad space by having more hours of coverage too.

Anyone who is familiar to the way March Madness airs can appreciate this. Seems like there's always just enough action happening, with a few games always coming down the stretch to exciting finishes while the others are running the first few minutes of the 1st half.

At first I thought 'no way' but then I realized this was actually a pretty good idea. And for the NFL it could be a potential money grab which is what Goddell is all about.

Yeah, well, there's downside too.

You know how frustrating it is having a player in the 3 PM game who is a game time decision? Well, now you have to make decisions earlier and more often on Sunday about whether to replace him in your lineup.

I'm sure the NFL doesn't really care about that though

Here is the issues of setting up schedules months in advance, you have no idea if a team will remain powerful or not, or if a major injury will effect or not. They negotiated on the sunday night games I believe to be able to make some later season adjustments...but not the case on Monday or Thursday.

So I get we have had some stinkers, but not much you can do when your crystal ball is months out.

My main point on Thursday games is the quality of the game.

Yeah I know but I don't think you can really blame the game. For the most part it has been matchups of divisional games so in theory the games should have been pretty compelling. It just has not worked out as such so far.

The problem with this year's season is there are a few 'elite' teams and the rest are garbage. We have never had this many undefeated teams this far into the season so that means there has to be a bunch of teams that suck. Heck the NFC only has 5 teams above .500!

I do blame the game. The teams are ill prepared and the players recovering from the beatings taken the week before.

Then blame the whole collective bargaining agreement. Fewer practice time, less contact practices, etc, etc. You just can't get a team as prepared as you once could and the product on the field is showing it.

Tackling is so bad now I wonder what RBs like Walter Payton, Earl Campbell, OJ Simpson would be doing. 2k rushing every year! Heck can you imagine if Christian Okoye was playing against these safeties that are so afraid to tackle now?

Maybe the NFL should start the season 2-3 weeks earlier. Play those August games in cool climates and at indoor stadiums.

Give every team 3 bye weeks instead of 1. Only schedule teams for Thursday games when they're coming off their bye

This could very easily be an exception and BB will be prepared and the Fins fired up. This could be a +40 to +40 game. Struggling with starting both Danny and Julian, or going with Marvin Jones/Austin/Snead in place of Danny.
