This makes way too much sense for the Jags

Jaguars | Fans urging team to sign Tim Tebow Mon Sep 16, 01:25 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars fans are planning to hold a rally Monday, Sept. 16, to try to encourage the team to sign free-agent QB Tim Tebow (Patriots). The rally is scheduled to last three hours and 16 minutes. QB Chad Henne was 25-for-38 for 241 yards and a touchdown in the team's Week 2 loss to the Oakland Raiders.

New owner could put butts in seats with this move. ......and what the hell......Henne, and gabbert sell this move on their own.

I don't know about Gabbert, but Henne is def a better option at QB than Tebow. Bringing him in at this point only turns Jax from a bad team into a really bad team with a circus.

Butts in the seats will only last for a couple weeks until the fans realize that the product on the field is still awful.

I still think he's a good signing for buffalo.....ignore the circus, make it clear he is just a back up QB and don't talk about your back up.

Good system qb to have behind manual.

?? Not sure I understand you here, Has Buffalo signed Tebow??

also, I have to disagree, Tebow is not a system Qb, nor is he a solid Back up. He can run...thats it. Manuel actually looks pretty solid. But he can throw well....and Tebow can't IMO

If I'm the jags why not take a chance? Tebow is a winner. His stats won't be good but he will find a way to win a couple game they have no business winning. It won't cost much and if he wins a couple of games right away people will fill the stadium and be talking about the jags. Right now no one mentions the jags and if they do its all bad stuff anyway.

No, I am saying I think he would be. He is an upgrade over what they have and can come in and run a similar offense. There will obviously be changed, like more of a Running focus, if he has to come in.....but Denver showed, if you have to, you can win with him.....just have to be creative. I think he's a solid back up......if you manage the circus.

He would have time to succeed with the fan base in Jacksonville, get playing time, and we have seen what he does when he plays a game. Contrary to popular belief he wins a few of them (in a row during a playoff push, maybe even being a pretty key part of the Broncos success that season). He has as many playoff wins as Romo I believe, and more over the last three or four seasons.

I will agree that Tebow for Jags makes sense. He can't be any worse than they have had so far. Plus he is a local favorite to get the fans to games. Not sure you all saw it, but the orlando TV affiliate was running an apology notice on screen for having to show the game. They need something.

But lets be honest, Tebow is NOT an NFL Qb. In no way, shape or form.

Obviously a lot of NFL personel agree with you....and I am in no way a Tebow homer, but I think if you take away the circus and the fan fare, he would be on an NFL roster as a back-up QB. Look around the league at some of the QB's holding down back-up gigs, they are no better and there are far inferior playmakers at that spot. What he is NOT, is an NFL starting QB, and I am not sure he will be one. But if your QB goes down and you have a mobile QB offense in to begin with, then I think he makes sense. He can find ways to make plays in specific system. You have to dumb it down and run a gimmic type offense, but you can get bye for a few weeks with him IMO.

Tebow in Jacksonville would only continue to fuel the side show. I would rather he go somewhere in which he can just play football and disapear to the background like most back-up QB's....but unfortauntely, he is a victim of his popularity on that front.

The Siberian Huskies maybe? I don't think the place exists where he could go and blend in. There's too much media too many places just looking for something to flap their gums about.

A

Axe Elf

If they want to get people talking about their team, they should just sign Axe Elf to a $60 million contract.

NFL team signs the world's foremost fount of fantasy football wisdom--who hasn't played a single snap of football since junior high--to a contract only a handful of other players have ever exceeded.

Now THERE'S a headline.

And then I would never play, just so the question of what would happen if I did would always remain.

Why don't they just sign Matthew Berry or Andy Behrens? That way when the headline comes across, people will actually know who the F that person is.

If they signed Axe Elf, the viewers would simply think that Jax has crossed the lines between the NFL and World Of Warcraft. Might get some attention from the warlock guild.

The flaw is if a team loses its #1 for an extended time. Yes, you might get away with Tebow for a game, but over that and the world is basically over. That is why having him for a #2 to me doesn't make sense. Use him in Jax as a ticket seller, but to have to rely on him for duty, if you #1 goes down, would be way too scary for me as a NFL coach.

Worked OK for Denver..wasn't pretty, but they survived and even found a way to win a playoff game.

How many back-up QB's do you REALLY want to rely on anyways? You can not tell me you would want to rely on the current Buffalo back-up would you?

Guess that is my point, it is not like there are 32 great back-ups. Not too many out there with playoff experience either.

It worked for Denver due to a killer Def and support members. Most teams especially the Jags don't have that. Actually I am a huge fan of Tuel and think he will make a great #2
