This kickoff rule SUCKS

I agree, I'd wager Miller would be down 60 if this was last year and Cobb didn't have to call a fair catch on 4 of those kickoffs........

I predict this will be the first year a player doesn't make it out of the endzone trying to return it from nine yards deep. So I guess thats a safety??

Agreed , stupid rule change. They say its for safety reasons and stop the big collisions. BS i say. If that was the case, then why not change the punt return rule. That guy is looking straight up while 11 guys are coming at him full speed. More chance of getting hurt than the kick return fella in my opinion. They're slowely taking the fun away from pro football. Penalties for everything now. Reviewing every TD. Cant celebrate a TD or its called unsportsman like conduct. If this keeps up, soon pro FB will turn into flag football.

...and yet in the first game of the season we have a 108 yd kickoff return for touchdown....I'm not saying...I'm just saying.:td:

And no as long as the player doesn't make it out onto the field of play then it is only a touchback. A safety can only occur when possession has been established on the field of play and then downed in your defending endzone by a member of the defending team.

Yeah you could just see what Sproles was thinking..."Man I'm never going to get any better than 8 yards deep on every one of these damn things, so might as well run!" And he did. And so did Cobb...it was actually pretty impressive! Makes the long returns more exciting, but we do have to endure touchback after touchback until we get one though. That is kinda sucky. And brings the friggin commercials on faster too.
