Things I am finally willing to admit

Bacon=greatest of all!
We all know that being a successful fantasy owner requires a degree of good prognostication, insight, and some degree of luck.

Well we are almost halfway through the season (how is it going so fast) and there are some realities that I have had to come to terms with finally. Some things I was just in denial about, some I just wanted to keep hope alive for, and some things just run counter to tradition.

Anyway here are the things that I am finally willing to admit.

  • LT is done! We often hear about RBs losing a step. Well not LT. He has actually gained 2 more steps. In the past what made LT so dominate was the fact that he could plant a foot in the ground and cut without losing speed. I watched his game last week and it now takes LT 3 steps to make that same cut. I'm afraid the pivot is gone. To add insult to injury he is now being replaced on the goal line by the diminutive Sproles.
  • The Saints have a real defense! Last year I laughed all year cause the Saints had the best offense in the league but their D could not stop the Sisters of the Poor from getting into the endzone. Not only have they gotten stingy in the redzone they are scoring points every week. Like that offense needs any help!
  • Forte outkicked his coverage last year! I just didn't see how adding a strong-armed QB in Cutler could do anything other than increase Forte's potential. How wrong was I?! He is not catching passes like he did last year. His ypc (which was low last year) has gotten worse and the Bears go through stretches of the game where they seem to actually forget that he is on the roster.
  • There is a very bad trend developing in the NFL! Never in my years of being a fan have I seen this many blowout games. I remember when 24 - 3 was considered a blowout. Now every week we are seeing teams lose by 4 or 5 touchdowns. Even more disturbing is the response of the commish. All he talks about is expanding the NFL. This will only make things worse. Bottom line is there is just not enough good coaches and players to ensure competitiveness among all the current teams.
  • Josh McDaniels can coach! He sucks at PR and is not the best person to handle transitions but there is no doubt that he is putting his players in the right positions to make plays. He is really making Shanahan look like the overrated hack that he was.

Excellent, Deacon! This one is my favorite.

I am not convinced it is all coaching. The rules have been changed over the past several years where the fines being assessed against defensive players for touching the QB a few seconds to late... is ridiculous. There will have to be a shift in the rule making allowing D's to balance out the offensive firepower that can now be unloaded at them.

I think it has more to do with defenses having to 2nd guess what they can do to the protected class of Brady, Manning... that has to do with the high scoring than the coaching. Cable in Oakland could win if he had the tools (Brady...) NE has - Being saddled with JaMarcus has not helped him at all.

My concern is that it might be connected to upcoming uncertainty involving the uncapped season ans the CBI. Are some teams posturing and riding things out with the current state of the unknowns??

Let me add one more.

  • Andy Reid is losing touch with basic football philosophy! He has got to stop getting a pass on this. We have seen year after year how Philly's inability to run the ball in short yardage situations has cost them games yet nothing is done about it. His game planning is also getting more and more questionable. Case in point: week 2 with McNabb out and your second year QB starting his very first game you call 51 pass plays??? And that debacle last week againt the junior league Raiders. The Raiders didn't look like a professional team in week 5 or week 7. So it doesn't look like a trend but rather a blip that happened during week 6 when they played the Eagles. Philly just wasn't prepared for that game and it showed.

I agree with this. I was so pissed on the Bush reverse because when Brees laid that "block" down, the linebacker stopped cold rather than blow Brees up and hitting Bush. This is getting ridiculous.

I understand protecting them...to a certain extent, and we all know its about that $90 million dollars dropping back more than anything else, but come the hell on.

A quarterback is still a football player, and if a guy is going to hit me, I dont care if he is a QB or not, he is going to get ran over. No one would shed a tear if Brees had hit that guy and hurt him. Should work both ways.

You know that we keep hearing that part of the reason for the protection rule changes is because todays athelete is bigger, badder, and faster...oh yeah faster. There is little doubt that this is indeed true. However doesn't the same trend hold true for the over protected QB's in the league? My gawd there are QB's in the league now that made yesterdays LB's look like Tiny Tim, well that may be a bit of a stretch but you should be able to follow my line of thought.

I will agree with this one

No they dont. Can you imagine what would happen if you dropped Ray Lewis in his prime into the 1970s NFL. Wow.

Im ready to admit him on my HG roster is like paying Child Support. The other parent isnt helping my kid out and Im not getting any use of the money.
