They Whom Shall Not Be Named

These RBs are curiously missing from any training camp, pre-season hype and I want to know why. Are they really non-issues for the upcoming season or am I blowing the lid off everybody's late round steal?

Larry Johnson, Cedric Benson, Jamal Lewis.

All 3 are mostly unchallenged as the starter and all 3 are marked as getting the goal line carries....What am I missing?

I know they are getting old, but 20 carries a game and goal line carries adds up to a lot of fantasy points, even at 3yds per carry.

Given their ADP ( 5 to 7 from my limited sources) I would gladly take any of these guys as my RB2 and load up on quality players at other positions in the earlier rounds.

Have we all just given up on these guys or should I have kept my big mouth shut?

All three of them have skeletons in the closet
All three of them are the unquestioned masters of pass oriented offenses
All three of them are in danger of being overtaken by a young stud

Larry Johnson: Age and injuries are enough to tamper anyone's expectations. Even though he may have rededicated himself, the offense being installed does not appear to have him as its focal point any more and opens the door for Charles to start getting more reps.

Cedric Benson: Memories of his epic failure in Chicago after being given the reins is definitely enough for me to have drafted him with great trepidation. I am keeping a closer eye on the rookie, Scott on the free agency wire as I could see him becoming a factor if Benson falls again.

Jamal Lewis: He got his 1,000 but his ypc was not up to par... or perhaps is now the new par (2 of 3 seasons). The fact that people are considering his backups as contenders when they consist of Harrison, the rookie Davis and ex-GB'r Herron shows confidence is as low at this position as it is for the overall team this year. He could surprise but of the 3 listed he would be my #3.

Who are the young studs? Sincere question. I see role type players behind them but no Felix Jones, Johnathon Stewart types. I want to make sure I'm not overvaluing these guys or undervaluing their back-ups.........

Benson = Bernard Scott, but that would be a longshot this year.

Johnson = Jamaal Charles, who's more of a handcuff than anything else

Lewis = James Davis. This one seems to be the most realistic of the 3, depending on if Cleveland is mailing in the season by December. (Likely)

Benson - Longshot my arse. In that offense NOTHING is a longshot anymore. This is a make or break year for the coaching staff.

Johnson - Jamaal Charles fits the wide open offense much better than Johnson does.

Lewis - James Davis is a candidate. So is Jerome Harrison. Lewis could easily be seeing pine if he doesnt play his ass off.

OK, now where are the "young studs" you were talking about who are in line to take over? Those are the guys I want to discuss..........

I like Charles also. I think either in a different thread or my RBBC article I mentioned that he has almost the exact same skillset as Chris Johnson.
Too bad he went to a lower-tier college..

Hey outlaws! I wanted to check in and let y'all know that I'm alive and almost well. I'm kind of missing reading the forum but I'll be back soon enough. I'm home from the job and am three weeks behind on chores and such.

cctekguy asked me to let y'all know he'll be back full time next week but is without internet right now.
