The St. Louis Rams have released linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa, the team's leading tackler in 2008.
"This was a difficult decision based on a lot of factors," Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo said Friday in a news release. "I have a great deal of respect for Pisa and wish him all of the best."
Tinoisamoa, a six-year veteran drafted by the Rams in the second round of the 2002 NFL draft, recorded 135 tackles in 2008, 88 of which were solo.
Tinoisamoa spent much of the previous two seasons on the injured-reserve list.

Any word on where he is going to land?

Were any of those "lot of factors" spelled out?

Haven't heard a thing yet but he should land somewhere. Factors weren't spelled out but if I had to guess it is probably something along these lines.

He is probably due for a new contract.

He has spent a lot of time on IR.

The Rams probably weren't ready to hang their hat for several years on Pisa.

So they released him after a good year, early (precamp) so he can hook up with another team. He obviously is very talented when healthy but let anther team invest the time to see if he can be both talented and healthy at the same time. He would be a project but is also a nice prospect that should attract some attention.

Jacksonville needs to pick him up. Then him and Torry can reunite. He would be a good addition in Jax.

How much time did he miss? Hard to imagine a "rebuilding" team throwing away a player who could at least help them short term.
