The Official Playoff Elimination Thread

Florida Skunk Apes
With the first week of fantasy playoffs in the books, odds are there are quite a few of us who woke up this morning quite disgusted and since our wives, girlfriends, or significant others may not fully grasp why we are so gloomy this morning, here is a thread for you to vent your frustrations and disappointment.

In my big money league I continued my 3 year streak of being eliminated first week of the playoffs. And the worst part of it is I would have beaten any other team in the playoffs that week. I outscored every other playoff team, except for my opponent which had his best week of the year, by at least 20 points. UGH!

I'll start it off, my big money league, finished the year strong and was the overall point leader going into the playoffs and I had become increasingly confident that I had perhaps the greatest odds to go all the way in this league.
All season I've been flip flopping between Steven Jackson and Ryan Grant (Ray Rice owns the other RB position). In the end, I went with Jackson. Bad call. Jackson finished with 8.2 points, Grant had 36.4.
Furthermore, I have two of the top ten highest scoring receivers, Reggie Wayne and Roddy White, they combined for 10.2 points.
I lost, by 2.6 points, $600 thrown away on a bad call.

11-2 record in the Death League sunk in the damn toilet because Randy Moss and Reggie Wayne decided it wasnt worth working Sunday. That and Brandon Marshall sent me home. BS.

This is a pre-facto bitch, cuz I know it's coming.

My Bears go against Mud's hydrocarbons in Rd 1. The Hydro's backed into the play-offs with a 7-6-1 record. They are 5th in scoring, have lost their last 2 games and have lost players to injury at an alarming rate.

The Bears are 9-5, they are the #1 scoring team in the league by 155pts and just posted 203 pts in a meaningless game.

In our first and only match-up this year the Hydros posted a season high 170pts. The Bears posted their next to season low @ 93. I expect the same to happen next week as the top seed Bears fall victim to the "somehow always successful" Hydrocarbons.

i didnt make the playoffs because in another division the second place team had to beat the first place team and have that one dang win above me....5-1 in my division and i dont make the playoffs...oh well....:shake:

Thanks....feel better now.

the 49ers defense beat my playoff squad in one league... by a single point

it was pretty excruciating to watch

Shula League
Had to make a choice on Wednesday evening between Quinn vs the Steelers or Ryan vs Saints

Rolled the dice on Ryan playing
Then against all odds I'm still in it until Rackers misses an Extra Point.

End result is a loss by 1.64 points.

:sob:

This is the same league where I lost back to back (Wks 3 & 4) by a combined total of 1.3 pts.

Congrats Miller

Lombardi League
Shouldn't have even made the playoffs in this league. The last placed team in my div averaged a whooping 11 pts/gm more than me, but I kept getting wins with smoke and mirrors more than anything. A poor outing for Wahoos team netted him a 4 pt victory.

Congrats Wahoos

AD, that was a ROUGH way to go down.....glad I won, but hate ya had to go down like that.

Those are the matches that make this league such a classic. I spent the weekend travelling so I wasn't able to track the injuries. I really didn't think that I'd be able to beat you with Quinn so I rolled the dice on an "All or Nothing" with Ryan.

Was a classic match though. going down to the final 2 minutes of a Monday night game with each team having someone playing

I was the 3rd place seed (9-4) in 1 IDP league and had several players not show up . . . :(

however, I was the 8th place seed (6-7 in which 9 teams had a chance at 6 of 8 remaining seeds) in my keeper league in which I won last year . . . I eliminated the #1 seed this week . . . woohoo . . . ;)

MY VERY FIRST YEAR IN FANTASY FOOTBALL

joined a friends league. i started off 0-3 and lost 2 of my first 3 by 13 points total (lost by 11 and 2)

won my next 8 in a row

lost to the top record in the league by 3 points after snelling got me -2 points when i thought he would get me a good number with turner out (whos on my bench)

won my final 2 games

i went 10-4 and didnt make the playoffs because the guy who i beat in the second to last week by 10 (114-104) whos also in my division ended 10-4 and scored 25 more points this season than me (had 'dre thomas jones and chris johnson this week) so he got the wildcard

i also have the #1 power ranking (one team in our league is 12-2, the other 2 division winners, the wildcard, and myself are 10-4)

feels bad man

The QB selections were interesting by both of us. I made a similar selection, I thought I needed a sneaky homerun and rolled the dice with Fitz Sunday am instead of going with my initial selection of Hass or Orton.....thought I needed more than the safe pts the other two provide and went for the upside of Fitz....that left me needing a blocked kick...

This is one that will be remembered though, hell of a match!

LOL old man you are safe this week but I plan to rumble in the game for 3rd.

This is why I love fantasy football. I've been doing this for over 25 years and even if you do everything right there is always the luck, oops, or whatever factor messing everything up. Sometimes you benefit, sometimes you don't. I made into the the money rounds one year when an opponent's kicker missed an PA on Monday night. I had an excellent draft from the 14th position in a 14 team league. The only drafting mistake I made was Eddie Royal and I had lots of company with that one. Some early bonehead lineup decisions and really bad matchups (the guy who had the best record had more than 500 fewer points scored against him) put me in a hole but I finished strong and made the playoffs. I had good matchups last week but none of my 4 studs really showed up (DAWill, Moss, Benson, Favre--I'm counting Favre even though I got him in the 10th round) and missed the money rounds by 6 points. I wasn't alone in that the guy who looked the strongest coming into last week also had all of his studs lay an egg (Roethlisberger, et al.) and finished last for the week. I still have the consolation that last year I won everything. Wait until next year.
