From Joe Schad at ESPN.com:

A report on Orangebloods.com said that Texas had been convinced to stay in a 10-team Big 12, thanks to a plan put together by Beebe that would keep the league intact with its current teams. The plan includes assurances that a TV deal could net each schools between $14 million and $17 million, Orangebloods.com reported, and schools such as Texas could still have their own TV network.
The Orangebloods.com report said a decision to remain in the Big 12 could be announced by Texas as early as Monday.

Well, that would throw a monkey wrench in things. What happens if Texas A&M go to SEC anyways? dunno:

I wonder if Colorado is regretting jumping the gun? Are they legally bound to move to the PAC-10? If not, maybe they will change their mind.

Felt a new topic on this one was warranted and that was as good of a break as any.

From what I heard today Texas is thinking of staying now after they heard a plan of a new TV deal and that they would be able to pursue their own TV network. This deal could net Texas around 20-23 mil in TV revenue.

Great for Texas, sounds like a great deal.....but not sure this does anything about the issue of the uneven revenues that ultimately drove Nebraska to the Big 10. This has also been Mizzouri's biggest gripe and I don't see how this stops them from going if the B10 come calling.

So does this save the Big 12? Or will the middle teams end up leaving in the end for better money anyways?

Here's another thought, if they can get the 10 teams they have to commit.....what happens if they go on the offensive to replace the two defective teams??

They just showed a graphic on ESPN that the Big 12's revenues were much more than the Pac-10 last year. So if the Big 12 can get on the offensive who says they can't lure a pair like Arizona and Arizona St to the Big 12?

This is going to get extremely interesting.

From all I have read, Missouri is out of the Big 10 picture. They supposedly applied, but were rejected. Don't know this for fact, but have read many sources on this at ESPN. Could be why they are fighting to keep the Big 12 alive.

As for getting more, I think the deal offered to Texas was they stay at 10 so the revenue split is less.

Texas has formally rejected the Big 12 invite and the other are going to follow suit and stay in the Big 12 with ten teams while Nebraska has gone to the Big 10 with 12 teams.....maybe a name switch is in order ;)

Very unimpressive. I was all set for battles with USC, Oregon, Washington, and better oppotunities for our students. What the hell do we do now with a 10 team lame duck conference. Nebraska and Colorado leaving means the Former Big 12 North NEVER wins a conference championship again ever. Whoopie!

well now at least we don't have to watch that lame duck championship game ;)

I still don't buy they will sit by and stay at 10 teams long term.....this is not addition by subtraction. They stay at 10 they will hurt themselves in the long run, but hey, they are still alive and that is more than we thought we'd be saying by now.

Dont make me beat you like a circus monkey :)

I hate the fact we are just blowing in the wind with 10 teams, 6 of which are basically worthless.

You know, I am starting to think this was all planned ahead.

Big 10 wants to expand, but not be the instigator. Pac 10 wants expansion, but not offering enough.

So....the big 12 becomes the Not so big 12 for a year or two. Then when all see it is failing, we blow up it, and a few other conferences...and then move to the super conf. idea.

With this, I would be shocked if the Big 10 expands anymore this year.

I don't think they expand unless they get ND in the mix. If they can pull that move off, then they look for 1-3 move to pair with them and move to 14 or 16.
