Texas A & M receives conditional invite to join the SEC

The condition is that none of the Big 12 schools are allowed to sue. A & M had all of this worked out in early September with the Big 12 members on condition that they left by September 8th. However Baylor president Kenneth Starr (he who went after Clinton for wasting a cigar) has threatened to sue. Starr has sent letters to all of the Texas schools that are in the Big 12 pleading with them to stop this foolishness and to stay togeather for Texas and the Big 12. Life is seldom easy. Meanwhile the SEC school presidents have given the okay to seek another team to join up.

In both instances Starr was hired to do a job. Can not fault the man for doing the job to the best of his abilities.

And he is doing a hell of a job. Baylor will make 18-20 million a year under the new TV deal. They are likely headed for Conference USA or the Mountain West if this falls apart, and thats only about 8 million.

It will crumble once A&M leaves. Its looking like the SEC has a new team but it also needs one more. Oklahoma is the newest name that keeps popping up. It was VT for awhile but that has died done. A&M and OU would be perfect to add to the SEC. B12 falls apart and UT becomes and independent with that new shiney tv deal.

Meanwhile the SEC, BigTen, and Pac16 super conference teams play at least 10 conference games each with a non-conference slate of one historical rival and one tune up game - leaving the new independent Texas who to schedule?

Even if Texas was able to figure out teams to schedule in the future... who do the schedule during the first five years or so of being independent (since most other teams already are booked for their games this far out)

And thats the big question they will have to answer when time comes. They already figured it out and did it with Colorado and Nebraska.
