From rotoworld,

Texans agreed to terms with K Neil Rackers on a two-year contract worth up to $4.1 million, though just $350,000 is guaranteed.

The Texans will hold an open competition between Rackers and Kris Brown in camp. Rackers has a stronger leg for touchback purposes and has been more accurate over the last two seasons, missing just four regular season field goal attempts compared to Brown's 14, including 11 last year alone. Neither is especially great in the clutch, but Rackers should be the favorite. Apr. 5 - 8:17 pm et

...which means that I will be looking to sign Rackers as my K come draft time. With that explosive offense and sub par run attack he should get pleny to FG opportunities. Kris Brown was good until last year when he stated missing all those short kicks.

It's hard to understand what happened to K Brown last year but it will be interesting to see which one of those kickers wins the job with the Texans. Well as interesting as kicking can be anyway.

From nfl.com,

The Texans have signed kicker Neil Rackers to a two-year deal, and it is believed that he will compete for the job this summer with incumbent Kris Brown. Rackers had his worst season in six years with only 16 made field goals on 17 attempts and a long of 48; Brown also had a rough year with 21 of 32 field goals made.
Analysis: This is bad news for Fantasy owners since whoever kicks for the Texans is worth a glance in drafts thanks to their potent, high-powered offense. We'll keep on top of this news for now as neither kicker has an edge in the battle just yet -- which makes drafting either of these guys a nightmare.

Its not Rackers fault he made 16 out of only 17 attempts, it sounds like a team issue scoring more TD's than FG options.

Brown on the other hand had more chances and failed on many attempts.

:headscratch:

(nfl.com)For the first time during OTAs, Texans' kickers Kris Brown and Neil Rackers took turns attempting field goals during team workouts on Tuesday. Brown went 4-for-6 from 35 yards, while Rackers went 3-for-6. They were much improved on Wednesday, both going 8-for-8 alternating kicks from mid-range. "They're both automatic," head coach Gary Kubiak said according to the Houston Chronicle. "It's going to be a great competition because you're looking at two very successful guys in the National Football League."
Analysis: Whoever kicks for the Texans is worth a glance in drafts thanks to their potent, high-powered offense, but not knowing who that kicker will be makes the whole process of taking one of these guys difficult. We'll keep on top of this news for now as neither kicker has an edge in the battle just yet -- which makes drafting either of these guys a nightmare

Lol, no thank you, still tired from doing the who is the Saints kicker two-step.

Not really.

If Rackers loses out to Brown he will kick elsewhere.

If Brown loses out, he's likely out of football for a while.

I don't see any way that Brown wins this unless Rackers just collapses. Still a bad taste in Houston's mouth from last season.
