Texans Rbs: Tate vs Ward for the backup spot.

Ben Tate, last year's second-round pick, is expected to push Derrick Ward for the primary backup tailback role this year. This is not much of a surprise as most of us expected this to be the case. A bit of a surprise is this nuggett, Ward scored once every 12.5 carries last year, which was the highest rate of any running back with at least 50 carries. He'll be higher on the totem pole entering camp, but Tate (you sure?) is the more talented of the two at this stage of their respective careers.

D.Ward has been on the NFL circuit going from team to team, dont see it being any different in Houston vs. B.Tate.

Ward didn't look bad last season spelling Foster and I wouldn't be shocked to see him beat out Butter Fingers.

I happen to believe before next year is over, Tate will be the back.

I think Slaton will be gone, and he could do much better on a pass oriented offense. (Hey San Diego...let expensive Sproles go and sign this kid on the cheap...).

I think the Foster thing was a one year anomoly. I think Tate and his talent will eventually win out. I also think Ward is solid depth, but only that.
